It's a 215 million operating loss for six months total, but it's a 9.5 billion yen operating profit for the last three months, and a $224 million overall net profit from the last three months.

Which indicates Nintendo is bouncing back from a poor Q1 and starting to make a good amount of money again.

Oh yeah, that is true.  They have reversed most of the loss from Q1.

Glad they made a profit, no matter how small

Although this does confirm, like many have been saying, that both WiiU and 3DS are over by 300k ish

Where are you getting that $224 million figure from? OP only says 215 million yen.

Net income =/= profit.

The actual profit was only about $2 million.

It's 215 million yen loss, not profit.

Numbers in brackets "(215)" means "minus 215".

Like i said Q2 would be profitable, now lets see if my next prediction becomes true the price drop around Smash release. Like I've been saying WiiU dominates this holiday.

No offense, but fanboys are better off staying away from actual financial talk, because they don't what the f*ck they're talking about 70% of the time. If you don't know the difference between say an operating profit and net profit or can't understand currency gains, spare us the "I told you so's"; "Emermahgawd, Princess Peach Amiibo looks so kewl, I'm buying three!" is not sound financial analysis.

There's not much that can be done here to be honest. New 3DS will stem the tide a little, but really Apple (and smart devices in general) are a more formidable advasary to Nintendo's bottom line than Sony or even Microsoft ever were.

Apple will ship 170 million iPhones this year alone (this doesn't even include the freaking iPad or iPod Touch, lol). Almost everyone with an iPhone plays some manner of games on it. Makes Playstation and Xbox and 3DS shipments look like dog sh*t.

Don't we usually get a bunch of software sales figures in quarterly reports?

whne is it released?

Don't think there is a release date yet, GAF people are speculating Feb/March tho.

It sounds like the operating profit for Q2 was actually quite high because they didn't have to produce any Wii U hardware.

It's kind of sad, but Nintendo would probably be better off this gen if they simply had not made a new console at all from a financial POV and just had the 3DS.

So when they have to start producing Wii U hardware again for the holidays (Q3) that's likely going to negatively impact their operating income.

Probably why they are dropping all types of hints about a Fusion platform as that would effectively I think in a way render the "console" as just a repackaged/slightly redesigned take on their portable.

Its good news. Not great news, but they are paying the bills and that'll have to do for now. They didn't get super bloated with overhead like Sony did with all their divisions. Stay Afloat will have to be the mantra this generation.
