When will we get Metroid?

2015 15 11.28%

2016 87 65.41%

2017 18 13.53%

2018 13 9.77%

Total:133

I would guess 2016, hopefully along with an F-Zero or Wave Race, proper 3D Mario, like Super Mario 64.
Bringing Pilot Wings back would be cool too.

I hope Nintendo can keep Zelda and Starfox as 2015 releases, as well as announcing some big surprises, like New IPs as they really could do with refreshing their line-up. I'm cool with them always having a good amount of focus on Mario games, but they often leave out other franchises that so many of their fans would love them to support nearly as much.

One thing they would be wise to do is announce a full 3D Pokemon action RPG, with Amiibo support.
If they want to boost Wii U sales then games like that are what they need to release. If they could rip-off Kingdom Hearts, with a new core character of their own creation, who goes on an adventure meeting characters from the various different Nintendo franchises, maybe make it into an MMORPG or a huge RPG that would be an enormous success.

There's so many games that Nintendo could easily do to bring people in droves to the Wii U.

I'd be cool with a side scrolling style Metroid (similar in visual style to Strider) and a first person game.
Maybe we could get the side scrolling version in late 2015 and a full Prime style setting in late 2016.

Metroid is more for the Western audience, and from what we've seen from the leadership we're somewhat of an afterthought in many cases

I still want a 3rd person over teh shoulder metroid with tight controls, non-linear progression, moody atmosphere (borderline scary), and a cryptic storyline without much exposition

2 years from now if not then next gen or maybe a handheld game..

I think that it will be a summer 2016 title, just like how Prime 3 and Other M were summer titles ( Yes, Other M was very early Spetember, but still)!

While I wouldn't be AGAINST a Metroid Prime 4, I might even eventually get stoked for it, it's not what I WANT from the series.

Nor do I ever want to see anything resembling Other M, at all, ever again. That goes without saying, the game was dogshit.

What I DO want, though what might well (sadly) have the least chance of actually happening, is to see an honest to god Super Metroid style game, ON Wii U, IN full HD, side scrolling, with gorgeous hand-drawn sprites (ala Vanillaware games), a huge world to explore, NONE of the linearity of Fusion (though it was an okay game, it was kind of a let-down). A for christ's sake, a simple, but decent, METROID-like story. No more of this "make Samus talk and force-feed players a contrived 'character' of hers" anymore. That was awful.

So yeah. That's what I would explode with happiness to see, a real, legit, huge, and gorgeous 2D Metroid. And I have a feeling I wouldn't be alone in that excitement, at all.

I'm a fan of Prime games (my first in the series), but I'd take a game like this. Zelda, Xenoblade, Metroid Prime Trilogy HD + a game like you describe would be enough to make me buy a Wii U. Finally.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

i have a hunch it's still in pre-production. I'm thinking actual production will take about 2 years, so q3 2017.

oh, and i don't think metroid is strong enough to be a christmas title. Not really sure what nintendo has left by then though.

Dude your sig is hilarious!

Playing Xenoblade 2 before I buy Xenoblade 3 (otherwise I couldn't wait to play 3).

Can they announce a new Fire Emblem? A remake of Genealogy or Tellius would suffice !
