It sure as hell seems that way if you just take the PS4 outa the box. in its defence though it also has a camera capable of voice recognition and motion control. A kinect isn't "new ". I think the new things, well until Morpheus gets here (if it ever does) are more under the hood things. Better OS, Share features (play/share) and PS Now. Then again, considering how well it has been selling so far I guess more of the same is exactly what everyone wanted. |
This guy understands. It's a great gaming console but that's all it seems to be for now. Nothing is wrong with that though
OP, you're calling it lame because it doesn't have big gimmicks, but gimmicks are not what most people are after these days as can be seen in Wii U doing terrible and XB1 dropping Kinect in a very short time.
People are less impressed by Wii U Gamepad or Kinect when they have tablet screens everywhere, and Google Now / Siri. People have access to all-in-one smart devices these days, so the limited tablets & voice recognition on the consoles are in reality pretty lame.

1. Yes.
2. As far as sales go the Wii sold 20 Million units so I'd say that's a great first year. Even the launch lineup was pretty good I mean... it had Twilight Princess, Trauma Center, Red Steel and others.

You can't say it will never have new gameplay

How are any of these "first" features anything to really brag about though? Touchpad as a button? Only thing I remember using that for was the absorb smoke and other powers in Infamous SS, and even that could be used as a button. VR headsed is something that hasn't been tested yet. Seems just as about unnesstial as the Kinect. Companies need to stop "innovating" for the sake of it. |
well i dont know about you but i love being able to record my gameplay without the need of an external recording hardware, i dont think i need to defend Shareplay and VR since the premise of them alone sounds exciting, and since they havent come out yet i cant judge if they will work as advertised or not.
and if you want to see my opinion about the touchpad then scroll some posts above to my response to Kitler.
Also i agree (outside of the recording gameplay feature) i dont care about any of the other features, the reason why i bought the PS4 was for the games, innovating for innovating is nonsense i much rather see a console that improved in everything that is essential for a console and thats what the PS4 focused on.

just my thoughts on that points...

I can say based off experience what will be made implementing the new gameplay will be underwhelming.
I agree. It hasn't got the features and that would be fine if it had the games, but it doesn't have that either yet. Next year it might earn its sales but I guess Sony's marketing has just been really effective this time.
For people who can't read only
He says that he doesn't care about the lack of innovations the PS4 brought to this gen and he is enjoying the gen so far. Innovations are not by definition improvements (Kinect, Wii mote, Gamepad, PS eye, PS move, 3d on a more powerfull ds which was ditched with the 2ds, should I go on).
Games and the power of the hardware determines the experience for the most part, gimmicks as listed above may only improve the experience a bit.
The PS4 controller on the other hand has a touch pad which is an innovation and is used quite well in Killzone Shadow fall.
Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar
