Yeah they do that a few times. Doesn't change the Metascore though.

1) Using a number to represent a personal view is childish anyway
2) Most polygon writers are muppets
3) Will they change their Halo 2 review to suit the fact that it lost all online multiplayer due to the loss of Xbox Live?
The whole policy is ridiculous, but just what I expect from Polygon.
| LudicrousSpeed said: Must be real bad when they can't even get servers up before release for a small press community. Hard coded server/online issues fucking suck. Ruined three of my most anticipated games of last gen: Twisted Metal Gears 2 SOCOM 4 |
"While online servers worked flawlessly with the lighter load prior to launch, they have more or less ceased to function in the disastrous week since the game launched."
Their original review was based on a game with functioning online.
To all the guys asking if they'll re-update the score when it's fixxed. Dis you read the OP? They said so:
"We're updating our Driveclub score until such a time as we have evidence that the game's servers are consistently up and running."

| binary solo said: So will it go back up to 7.5 when the online problems are sorted out? Seems only fair for a review score to reflect the experience gamers will actually have, so once the online crap is sorted out (assuming it will be sorted out), the score should reflect the fact that online is functional and thus the experience will then warrant the original 7.5. |
Do you even understand how reviews work?
It is to review the launch state of a product.
IF they made the mistake and "believed" the serves would be post launch as they were pre launch and gave the game a better score they should lower the score if the game has problems when it launched.
It does NOT matter if the game will have good servers in 1 month or even later. The devs had their one chance and fucked up.
So it would in no way be fair at all to change the score to 7.5 again. It was a mistake on Polygons part to give it a 7.5 to begin with.

So wait, they lowered the score because of that? Meh.
i know i've bitched about low reviews this gen but..
...justified. a game centering it's marketing around joining clubs and playing online that can't play online. such a fail. scores below 6/10 traditionally have been reserved for broken games and this game is broken.
Polygon was and is a creation of the Microsoft corporation that employs people who sleep with the people whose products they are supposed to judge fairly.
This is the Game of Thrones

Well hopefully it will be a lesson for all other developers to test their games more vigorously before a game is released.
Well deserved. It should be lower than that to be honest.
