Ummmmm..... When you talk about older entries, are you talking just MH3P and MH4? These sales (over 1.6mil) is close enough to the top 2 entries of the franchise. So why "not so much" :P

Because the series had it's peak with MH3P. It's all downhill from here, and the bombastic opening of MH4 proves it.

If thats logical at all then you honestly shouldn't be talking about sales XD

Edit: We werent talking about peak at all btw, you just totally switched it^ We were talking about how mh4g compares to all of the MH franchise. 1.6mil+ debut vs the best debut MH4 with 2mil and MH3P 1.85mil (somewhere around those numbers) is pretty damn good. You cant say otherwise

It's completely logical. As MH becomes more and more front-loaded then it'll have weaker and weaker legs; hence the decline. This is also reminiscent of Black/White which had an amazing opening, but horrendous legs.

MH is going downhill, not terribly quickly, but if you can't see it then too bad for you.

MH Is great, but Capcom might just use that money on Smartphones again :0

MH is doing great when set beside everything else, but compared to older entries... not so much.

This FW is only less than two other entries (from what I could find). One of them is MH4 and the other is Freedom 3... 1.6mil (excluding pure digital) is a great number, even for a MH game. Not sure what you are on about...

Not every new game in a franchise needs to become the best selling. Monster Hunter as a franchise is sustaining itself quite well...

Let me borrow your crstal ball that your using to see future sales pls. This is first week sales and we wer originally talking about the debut.

MH is going downhill my Ass XD.  Having Peaked=/=Going Downhill. By that logic PS4 is going downhill (PS2) :-/

Yeah, such a terrible mistake. 3DS only cost $250 at launch and it did terrible pre price cut and you want them to add more to the cost right?

Overall it was already overpriced, if an XL wax made at that time the damn thing would be nearly $300.

Lastly doesnt look like much of a mistake to me looking at vita situation (Not trying to start, just making a comparison) and 3ds sales WW.

He's right, N3DS should have been the launch system. They're having to shoehorn additional power in to be able to port Wii games whilst the launch system of the rival runs ports of PS3 games comfortably.

Vita only cost $250 at launch too. I don't know how Nintendo managed to bleed so much money on a PSP with a 3D display. 3DS XL should have introduced the second analogue stick. I honestly expected it to until it was unveiled. And btw, XL is STILL about $300 in the UK and you don't even get a wall charger.

I really wish they'd have just stuck the 3DS out for another year or two and just done a proper next generation handheld with a bit more oomph than a Vita in 2016 that can run Wii U standard software.

3DS may have tidily won on sales, but it's offered woeful value for money bordering on Apple standards. Also looks like we're going to have technically restricted handheld gaming for the forseeable future now.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

Did you not read the other post? And that's an extremely weak defense.

@Tbone; What can I say? You're the one who thought X/Y would hit 20 million. Nevermind, that doesn't count anymore.

And peaking does equate to going downhill. Have you never seen a mountain before?

Dayum, 3DS!

Monster Hunter, Smash and Yokai Watch are slaying!

Why not? I am asking why but I'll bite: Additional cost is the main thing. Shorter battery life is another. I can understand the redesign of the look and the new buttons but not the new power if it won't be used in meaningful ways.

Comparisons of what? Graphics?

Comparisons of things such as download speeds and load times. Additionally the power is also needed to compensate for the additional buttons...

Doesn't it also have an improved GPU?

I don't believe it takes much power to compensate for a few more buttons. That's basic stuff.

Lol, even the color of this Pacman is correct. Have we ever seen one so perfect?

Obviously awesome sales for 3DS, 260k, but it's somewhat to be expected with the launch of a redesign. WiiU poor, though maybe affected by 3DS's total domination. PS4 had a nice little boost, XBox One is beyond terrible, I seriously don't get why Microsoft even tried, and I already said so before release, they'd be extremely lucky to even get to a third of the 360 sales there. Vita at 9k in handheld-land is unbelievable as well.

Monster Hunter excellent start, legs on Smash and of course Yokai Watch. Driveflop.

Vita has memory cards, that ups vita price right there. (also by that logic they should of been included like the 3ds with an extra analog right?)

Apple Standards? Not even close, everybody was predicting a new HH in 2015/2016. With the New 3DS, 3DS Software can continue being supported for at least another 2 years, having a new gen starting early isnt > N3ds (upgrade if you will). I do understand the arguments for N3ds, dont get me wrong, but its not as bad as many are making it out to be.
