take ocarina of time for example.. or final fantasy 7 or something like that. those games were the talks of the fucking town because of how incredible they are. they stood out far beyond the rest because they were amazing, not because of advertising and hype. im sure nintendo was proud of the countless perfect scores ocarina of time received and perfect scores drove sales. its a more healthy view of how to drive sales for your games in my opinion.

I'm sure there is gamers that didn't like OoT or FFVII... to be fair I knows guys that hated FFVII.

I think you are focusing a lot in game critic susscess.

Take GT5 for example... it was a critical mess with everybody trashing it and it ended one of the biggest games of the last generation with the biggest community ever in any racing game... people loved it.

I see Destiny in the same case of GT5.

I'd say no since they're planning to make 2 or 3 more Destiny games and consumer trust has completely died for this franchise.

thats another problem i have with developer's mentality these days. they plan for a trilogy and not for the single game they are making at the moment. there are so many things wrong with it. focus on the game youre making now, and make it the best it can possibly be. worry about part 2 later. leave a cliffhanger at the end, thats fine, but put all your resources and thoughts and effort behind this single title youre making it now.

This is mostly all on Activision. Bioware did the same thing with the Mass Effect trilogy and each game turned out well.

You seriously think they weren't massively overhyped?

absolutely not. those games set a standard. they were a benchmark of greatness. and the people who disliked them were few and far between. both those games to this day frequent top ten lists (of all time). especially OoT

yeah, i would say ME is one recent exception to that rule. most of the time, i believe that mentality negatively impacts a game though. you're right though, in the case of ME, each game turned out really well. (except maybe part 3? the first two were phenomenal)

I guess it is the same case for these games.

The difference is today everybody is vocal in internet... in FFVII and OoT days there is no internet at all.

PS. There is guys that hates Half-Life 2.

Only incredible biased lists!

lol ok, i think most of us can agree that OoT is the closest you can get to perfection when creating an adventure game (even if you hate nintendo). i mean really. that game had it all. especially when it originally released in 1998.

ok, everybody is different, we all understand that. but those who hate OoT, FFVII and HL2 are an extreme minority. those games are regarded as classics and the best of their kind. theyre a standard, and the kinds of games that get people to want to become game developers one day.

come on guys, lets  be a little bit realistic. yes, there will never be a game that somebody makes that everybody loves. but these three games especially are standards. and the fac tthat they were so great drove sales. unlike destiny. we know for a fact that destiny isnt selling like hot cakes because its a great game.

Seriously? Closest you can get to perfection? Destiny is a better adventure game than OOT could ever dream of! There are countless games that blow it away in every department. Well... apart from one... but I'm sure you know what that is

lol ok ill give you a little assingment. make a thread with a poll that says: which game comes closer to perfection: OoT or destiny. itll be fun (but expected) to see what the results would be on that one haha

I immediate thought is: They better be.

They sold to a third of every PS4 owner.

And the game is basically "Halo goes Old Star Wars with none of the charm."

You can make happy every one you make us believe that nobody liked the game

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m
