2D. I've only played Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime Hunters as 3D Metroids.  Didn't like either of them.  Pretty boring.

For Wii U, I want another first-person game like Prime. The 3DS is powerful enough that it should be getting all these 2D games, not Wii U. The two different types of games would complement each other so well.

Currently playing:

Bloodbath Paddy Wagon Ultra 9

3D first person in the style of Prime for Wii U and 2D side-scroller like Super/Fusion for 3DS

both release in 2016 for Metroid 30th anniversary

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

I voted for the first option...
But as long as the final product is incredibly far removed and fundamentally unlike Other M in an absurd number of ways, I'll be satisfied with anything...

Have a nice day...

TBH make it like skyrim DO AS YOU WISH -STYLE so everyone can change their perspective. Do a rayman legends style metroid for 3DS. No polygonal low quality photoshop-stock-effect-crap like NSMB

2D...Epic...5 times the map size of Super Metroid. 30 hours of gameplay to get through the game the first time around. 3 hours for speed runners. Lots of sequence breaks. No hand holding. Samus says nothing. Stackable beams that can be switched on and off. Visors. Lots of visors.

are you making her your dream girl friend or what!? lol

Hey...if I could trust the Metroid team (whichever it may be) to give her decent lines and probable motivations as a baddass bounty hunter, then she can talk all she wants.  Sadly, I really don't trust them to do that.  Besides, you can tell enough of a story with body language and maybe some occasional text.  In my favorite Metroid games, though, she says nothing.

3D, both 1st and 3rd person:

1st person would play like Metroid Prime and occur when you are wearing the power suit. You would be slower and focused on range.
3rd person would play more like Other M and would occur when you are wearing the zero suit. You would be faster and focused on melee, but be extremely weak.

This allows more gameplay variety and better platforming (first person platforming blows) and would be completely and totally wonderful.

I think this idea has a lot of potential if it was done in a way that was intuitive and not disorienting.

Give it to Retro, make it a Prime and add online multiplayer. There's so much potential there it's ridiculous.

Yeah, after Metroid Other M I have no faith in Nintendo's ability to handle a voiced Samus. Keep her the silent protagonist and at least the probability of another cringe-worthy travesty will be reduced.

3D, first person, just like in the good old Metroid Prime times. That would be so awesome.
