No he should'nt. The same way as Andros should'nt be a playable character. CAUSE THEY ARE HUGE! And giving them the size of Donkey Kong would just a idiotic idea going against everything the character stands for in the first place.

Keep in mind he's probably referring to people complaining on Miiverse, in which case I don't doubt that he's right.

Ironically, he acts like a child in stating this. An adult would be able to see that their complaints are legitimate; whether or not they agree with the complaints.

On a separate note it's extremely dumb to say this from a business perspective. If people felt strongly enough to voice their complaints then they're capable of feeling strongly enough to not buy the game.

Maybe they are right. Because the clone characters never really bothered me. The cast is huge enough, and to have only 4 duplicates of characters isn't a bad thing at all (Although Lucina moves faster but hits just SLIGHTLY less stronger than Marth, and Gannondorf is slower but stronger than Captain Falcon). Toon Link is considered a clone, but the strategy with both are very different IMO.

My biggest beef with Smash 3DS is the lack of Retro stages (Vanilla SSB Dreamland, Mushroom Kingdom II, Fourside) but the new stages are great (Ringside, Pit's stage, Wily's Castle, and Wario's stage).

I don't really play Smash but if they count these characters in the character total and not as alternate skins, people actually may have a legit gripe.
