I got one around six months after launch. I found a good deal for it on eBay, and I already knew a lot of the franchises I was interested in were in the works. The tipping point for me was the backwards compatibility with the Wii. My parents' Wii had stopped working at the time, and they liked to use it for party games like Trivial Pursuit or Monopoly when they had company over, or Wii Fit when they were alone, and so I had an excuse to give them mine as a present, while still being able to chip away at my Wii backlog. I think a lot of people underestimate the value of BC...if you dont' have access the previous gen system, it's basically like two systems in one.

Anyways...I'd say I'm pretty satisfied now. I have a PS3 for JRPGs and multi-plats I'm interested in, but working full-time keeps me from gaming more than 5-10 hours a week anyway. Right now, I have Hyrule Warriors to keep me occupied, and a Wii/PS3 backlog to chip away at if I get bored of it before Smash U.

How would you know what lurkers own?

Polls in other threads aren't reliable either; I already told you what common numbers of total votes were before the blatant manipulation of polls. As for responses, you mean that a lot of Wii U owners post in threads about the Wii U?

@Bold That's the thing ... I can only infer from what we have.

Even without the manipulated polls, it's still the pro Nintendo option that wins out. WII U owners also happen to post in a lot of platform face-off threads too so I don't know what you were trying to make out of the last line.

Let's agree to disagree here since this is off topic ...

That is the problem of putting a "Are you getting a Wii U?" question inside the Nintendo Forum.

How many games (already out or comming) are you interested in for the Wii U?

Even outside of the Nintendo section there will still be a lot of polls with pro Nintendo results and frequently at times even in the Sony section too! This site has a TON of pro Nintendo users no matter how you slice it. By comparison the Xbox and PC community here is a vast minority and the Playstation community is the only one that comes closest to the Nintendo community here but let's drop this talk as it's off topic.

There's only four games that I'm even remotely interested in on the WII U's entire life. SMTxFE is looking more and more like vapourware ever since Sega aquired Atlus so it's only fair that I count it out until we can get a non-indefinite status of the development or release date.

There's not a whole lot I'm looking forward to owning a WII U for ...

It's not shocking that on a dedicated gaming site there are plenty of Nintendo fans. The more active people here are likely to have been interested in gaming for a while and probably started out on the SNES, N64, PS1, possibly even gamecube and PS2. Outside of them there would be an incredibly large majority who simply buy a Playstation and Xbox for COD, GTA, Destiny, whatever is advertised heavily ect and they're the kind of people we won't find on this site.

I think we all know that the views from the forum population here are greatly innacurate when it comes to the real world.

Waiting for prices to go down, both for hardware and software; I'll have two generations of Nintendo games to catch up on since I never owned a Wii!

Keep waiting for the software price drop and you wont own a Wii U ever. Nintendo software prices don't decrease and if they do its the start of the next gen.

oh come on. NSMB2, Mario 3d land. Metroid Other M. Wario Land Shake it. Game and Wario. Paper Mario just to name a few of the games that dropped in price during their respective gems. If the games dont sell up to snuff Ninty will drop the price.

Nope. If I ever buy another console during this generation it'll be a Vita for PS4 remote play. But otherwise I'm a one console per generation person and I already have PS4.

I got mine last May and I like it a lot.

I have one already. It's kind of strange how a lot of you guys are prepared to wait for the price to drop to some unfathomable number (50 dollars? Seriously!?!) By the time Wii U gets to that price, we will probably be at the end of the ninth Generation

Life Time Sales Prediction

PS4- 80 million

Xbox One- 40-60 million

Wii U- 25-40 Million

Still too expensive for me (I live in Sweden), same goes for the other two. I've never paid more than 2500NOK for a console. I'm waiting for more software, more firmware updates, all the promised features and lower prices! I use my PC for practically all my gaming anyway, so it's not like I don't have anything to play while I wait.

Similar problem here, official price is 488 U$, but importing it directly from USA is only 360 U$, expensive but not so much. I have not buyed any console for more than 250 U$ (USA price), but that is WITHOUT any games, since the 300 U$ Wii U bundles do include a game (and I got the WW HD one) I made the math and it was 50 for the game and 250 for the console, so I went for it.

Also I do require at least 3 titles that interest me, already on the market and WW HD was also the tipping point

I bought the Mario Kart 8 bundle when it came out in May and I'm so glad I did. I'm having so much fun with it!!

I bought mine in August of last year. 14 months later and I still play it frequently. Such an under-appreciated system. Too many people are missing out on a great console.

completely agree with you.  Nowadays a system has to have tons of power for someone to consider it worth buying.  Lots of gamers are missing out on the gaming experiences that the Wii U has to offer.  Mario Kart 8 and Super Mario 3D World are reason enough to buy one.  Those are such great games!!  Of course that's just my opinon.
