Nintendo still seems to be hitting 60fps just fine.

Yep, in platform games and a kart racer.

Also, they're sticking with 720p.

Doesn't mean they're not 60fps though. Also, Smash Bros will likely be 60fps, and that's 1080p and neither a platformer nor a kart racer.

Shin'en also maintain a 60fps baseline in all their games despite making more graphically ambitious titles than Nintendo.

Well what's your point? You already know X1 and PS4 have numerous games running at 60 fps. More than Wii U.

60 fps wouldn't be surprising in Smash Bros, its expected. Lets wait and see if its 1080p. It seems like Nintendo has been sticking with 720p thus far, even games that were anticipated to be 1080p. Maybe they will settle with 900p.

Why are you even mentioning the Wii U in this thread? Its not like the Wii U has games visually at par with Assassin's Creed running at 60 fps. Sorry, but the Wii U just isn't relevant in every converstation.

I didn't bring up Wii U, I brought up Nintendo, because Ubisoft says the industry is dropping 60fps, and I pointed out off the top of my head a major publisher/developer who isn't dropping it.

As for Smash being 1080p, I actually expected 720p too, as that's been Nintendo's baseline to date, (and for the foreseeable future) but the screens they keep bringing out are, strangely, 1080p.

Actually I don't much care I'm not going to be playing it either way.

Alright, but 60 fps isn't just limited to Nintendo. We see plenty of games and genres sticking with 60 fps. In open world games 60 fps hasn't been a priority.

So the industry dropping 60 fps is a dumb comment. Some developers focus on cutting edge graphics, others make frame rate a focus.

I never said it was limited to Ninty. COD is another good example.

OMFG!

Nintendo titles aren't always 60 fps though.

CoD is one of many examples right now sticking with 60 fps.

Most of their key franchises have been for a while now.

Mario 3D World, Mario Kart 8, New Super Mario Bros U, Tropical Freeze, all 60fps.

Last gen Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, Metroid Prime 3, DKCR, NSMBWii, Mario Kart Wii, Smash Bros Brawl...
