Neither Fusion or Celador should have been banned. Ive seen worst things said or implied than what Fusion said. And ive seen plenty of threads have the opposing company come up and not get moderated in Celador's case. You could also say Goatseye shouldnt have brought up games like InFamous which was also off-topic. So yes Celadaor was off-topic but so is a lot of stuff on VGC including the comment he quoted.

I think context is key with every moderation.
While other people do go off topic in threads, Celador's only contribution to that thread was deflecting the negativity at Microsoft. 3 posts, all of which were trying to drag it into a "lets troll Microsoft games!" thread, simply because Goatseye leans towards Xbox and had an opinion on Sony 1st party.
It was nothing but deflection/ baiting. Mixed in with previous anti-Microsoft warnings/bans, it just helped the decision along to hit him with another Trolling moderation.
My post here explains why Goatseye went mod-free and has more detail on the Celador ban, incase you missed it.
No comment on the Fusion ban...

You all told me that this place isnt a democracy (Somebody was watching too much Walking Dead) but you guys really need to start letting the community be more involved instead of trying to silence them. People come here to be heard. WHen they post here it isnt just to criticize you, but to see if others agree with them as well. You all dont even allow people to talk about moderation outside of these threads anymore. You all have made us go to the mod thread for the last year. You all ask us or even demand us at times to respect you but you also need to earn it. Some of the community is upset with you guys, that is why your last thread changed so much, because you all pointed people in that direction by making people go to the mod thread.

I am all for the community having input. Its one of the reasons why I thought the old thread was great (and why I posted in it a lot before actually becoming a moderator), but I do agree that there has to be some form of ruleset for the discussion, as "Joe Bloggs should never have been banned!" posts are worthless to us as a team and to "Joe Bloggs" himself.
Detailed posts are what we need if someone is to point out a mistake (and there are plenty of mistakes) or advise us on any possible changes/ improvements.
