Forums - Nintendo - Top 5 features the Nintendo Wii U needs!

1.) Achievement/Trophy system

Now I know that there are a lot of people reading this and are saying " I couldn't care less about a achievement/Trophy system" but TRUST me when I say that this is the feature you don't know you want yet. An Achievement/Trophy system on Wii U will add more replay value to your favorite games and it will also add a bit more depth to your online experience on the Wii U. For example, on PS3, the only online game I really played was Fat Princess( you can say whatever you want about it looking cartoonish and kid-ish but that was THAT game!!). There was just something about that game that was different and wasn't like the typical online Call Of Duty game imo. On PS4, the game I'm playing a lot online is Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare and a little bit of Destiny. Garden Warfare was a game that gave me that same Fat Princess feel when I first saw it and I can tell you that I've been having a blast with it online just like I did with Fat Princess. And now on Wii U, there is an online game coming out soon called Splatoon and it is giving me that same Fat Princess feel when looking at it. Now if Splatoon is good like Fat Princess and Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare online(I'm sure it will be), this game will OFFICIALLY become my online" go-to" game on Wii U. Nintendo needs to get their Achievment/Trophy system out before this game releases

On PS4, when adding or accepting a friend request online,  I use an individuals Trophy list as a determining factor on whether I should add them or not. A person has to play the same games as me for me to add them. So the very 1st thing I do is check their trophy list to see if they have PVZ Garden Warfare or Destiny. If they dont, I wont add them. I have just naturally grown into this way of doing things and the same will be applied on Wii U when Splatoon is released. When determing to add or accept an individual on Wii U, I will simply check their Trophy list to see if they have Splatoon and Mario Kart 8. If they dont, I wont add because what's the point in adding somebody who you're never going to play with? I dont want useless filler In my friends list. I need a full, living and vibrant list of friends on Wii U that I can play with.

On the replayability side of things, you either have the people who dont real take advantage of Trophies( usually people who only buy 1  or w games on a system),  Trophy whores who set out to achieve every platinum they can( I dont see how people can do this lol I know I cant), and then you have people like me. I personally wont attempt to gain Trophys in a game unless I really like it. Like the only games on ps3 ive attempted to gain Trophies in was Fat Princess, The Unfinished Swan, Uncharted 2( I might end up getting them in U3 and maybe Mass Effect 2), The Last Of Us and that's about it. There were plenty other games I liked on PS3 but I REALLY REALLY have to like a game to attempt to gain Trophies in it. On Wii U, I have Pikmin 3, Mario Kart 8 and Super Mario 3D World and I personally like these games enough to where I know that I would try to gain trophies in all 3 of these if Wii U had a Trophy system right now.

I personally would prefer for the Wii U achievement/Trophy system to a bit more like Trophies because I personally like how they're seperated between bronze(easy), silver(medium), Gold(Hard), and the Platinum Trophy is only achievable by gaining 100% of the Trophies for that game. Either way, the original idea came from microsoft and they would obviously recieve the credit regardless. Nintendo is going to have to do it eventually. So you might aswell just get this out of the way right now.

2.) Live with Nintendo!

On PS4, there is a feature where you can livestream your game directly to the Playstation universe(lol). Now I admittedly didn't care about this feature at 1st and thought "who the hell would sit here and watch this sh!t) but as of lately, I've really been enjoying it and cant picture the system without it. I personally can only watch people stream games that I like and there are a lot of people who stream through "The Playroom".

Not to be sexist or anything but on Live with Playstation, i've noticed that there are a lot of females who play The Last Of Us. I would go to their stream and i would check their trophy list real quick and to my surprise, a lot of them would have FULLY PLATINUM'D or have atleast gained 73% of the trophies in The Last Of Us! To compare, ive beaten The Last Of Us and have started my 2nd playthrough and i only have 7%( i rushed through the game on my 1st playthrough to see if it was worthy enough to keep)! I just sat there like "LAAAAAAWD JEZUZ CHRIZT!!" They'll be on grounded mode swagging through a part that i had to struggle and claw my way through on normal mode. I also learned a lot of things i didn't know by watching their streams and i LOVE that sh!t!

After being on the Wii U and PS4, I feel like I cant picture a system without a Miiverse and this constantly makes me feel like something is missing on PS4. I now feel the same about Live with Playstation.  I can't picture a system without it. Live with Nintendo would be a GREAT addition to the Nintendo Wii U and I know for a fact that there would be a lot of people using it. Everybody knows who Nintendo is so there is no reason to act like Nintendo is an outsider. YOU OWE IT TO THE FANS to bring this to the Wii U and I can't think of a single reason why it shouldn't be brought to Wii U

3.) [ And again.. I can't think of a feature that should go here so skip this!]

4.) On-screen Notifications

This should be one of the easiest updatesto implement. When a notification happens, just make a little box with a quick signature  noise appear on the top left or right side of the screen informing us what it is. I PROMISE it wont bombard us or take us out of the experience.

5.) Invite System!

I have not attempted to use this yet but i've heard that it's not fully implemented right now like it's supposed to be? Well being that Splatoon is coming soon, we're going to need this invite system to be on point! If I'm in a lobby and on the losing side of a team. We might need to call somebody to join in like " look here, bro, I'm going to need for you to get off Mario Kart 8 and GET THAT @SS ON SPLATOON NOW!! If you dont, the whole world is going to explode and you will be to blame!" lol

I'll admit that this list was harder to make than the PS4 list. I really couldn't think of that much else at this moment but it's done. So what do you think? Do you agree or disagree? Is there a feature that I've missed? Let me know in the comments below

Also, account not being locked to console would be a big one

And making the wiiU not being region locked would be another

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

The only ones that really matter to me on that list are on-screen notifications and a standardized invite system. Personally, I don't miss a standardized achievement system as I never really felt the need to get achievements, though I can obviously see why a lot of people want it.

However, I do think that Miiverse profiles should contain a list of games the user has played (at least games played most often). Not everyone favorites a Miiverse community, so drawing play data from the user would be a good thing IMO.

What about the choice to navigate and use the system with any controller.

I couldn't care less about a achievement/Trophy system.

You can navigate almost the entire system with the pro controller. If not all of it.

I bet the Wii U would sell more than 15M LTD by the end of 2015. He bet it would sell less. I lost.

Well it's a nice addition, and it's not going to kill Nintendo to implement it.

Yeah...trophies and game porn aren't exactly on my list of must haves...

But I'll give this a go:

1. A Better Home Menu on the TV Screen...watching the Miis run around and clamor around "popular" games that I really don't care about is pretty lame. I'd much rather see the Miis interacting with characters from the games I've played. Watching the Miis get blasted by a space marine or something (ala the minions from Despicable Me) would be pretty entertaining. Or getting a gift from an Animal Crossing villager...you get the point.

2. Wii games should be able to be played using the WiiU Menu.

3. Greater distance for the WiiPad

4. The ability to return an EShop game for 25% credit

5. Demos, Demos, Demos

Seriously, I play games on Steam and the cheevies mean nothing to me.

Party chat and "join game" are also needed. I don't think it needs features other consoles have, it needs features that HAVE to be in a modern gaming device.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.
