Essentially people gave it the benefit of the doubt at first and now Ninty are facing an uphil battle.

2014 had a horrible opening, there was DK (not even that big in japan) and nothing else till june. Likewise Vita could get the biggest western exclusive around and it would be down YOY over here because people don't have faith or interest in the value of the system. The only thing that can offset such perception is several high profile releases one after the other, not 5 months apart.

Yes, it does have many games in the west. It has those same games in Japan but they don't appeal.

If it was the other way around (PS4 having only Japanese centric games in the west) then it wouldn't be selling well here either.

1. The system just isn't very popular in Japan and consoles are a declining market overall.

2. The new tax in Japan seems to have hit consumer spending fairly hard.
