MS bought Minecraft yes, not the Xbox division they are two completely different lines of business. They are going to use Minecraft to build mobile and they know by making this IP exclusive they greatly cut the amount of money the IP can generate. If they are going to continue to support Apple and Android they will continue to support Sony! Why you ask, well MS wants Mobile the Xbox division is not core. MS could give themselves timed exclusive content or exclusive content but they know by making the IP exclusive they kill the money making potential of the IP. So until anything is said Minecraft will remain Multiplatform.

Besides, Minecraft is not really a console selling IP, I have never herd of anyone buying console X because it has minecraft!! That be crazy since the game can run on mobile (cheaper to get into) and a rather low end PC (also cheaper to get into).

The console version of minecraft outsold the pc version even though the pc version was the only way to play it for the first few years. So yes, Minecraft is a console seller. And to the people stating they will release playstation version, Microsoft never released a published game for a Sony's platform. Gaming consolse are not the same market as mobile.

Do you know what a console seller is? I highly doubt the console version outsold the PC version however I never really looked... BUT the console version when released already had a huge install base to draw from, to assume people bought the a PS3 or Xbox 360 because of mine craft is funny.

While I know the mobile and gaming markets are different picture this, MS cares a hell of a lot more about Mobile and they are going to continue to support iOS and Android until they say otherwise this is going to happen. They know if they cut out iOS and Android they would lose out on a huge amount of cash! Minecraft is not big enough to sway enough people to go to the MS platform in beg enough numbers to off set the loss of potential revenue. Xbox is not a core MS line of business, it's a money pit and investors are growing unhappy. MS however WANTS mobile, if they keep iOS and Android support there is a VERY good chance they support Sony also. It's common sense, Minecraft while is MS owned looks to be independent from the Xbox division. Besides until MS says no to iOS, Android or Sony it IS happening... your opinion is just that and not based on fact and will be until MS themselves say otherwise.

I didn't even know such game even existed, but after googling it I agree with you!

Wait...

It's actually a thing? 0.0

According to Newgrounds, it is! It's not a game though...

Judging by the Minecraft thing, any acquisitions will be on properties that also have a strong mobile presence. So no, Splinter Cell is too much small potatoes (given it would only really benefit the Xbox platform) for Microsoft to buy outright.

I also agree that I don't think MS will do anything as far as game acquisition. The idea MS does not care about money and could just sink money into something that is losing money because they can is just idiocy, pure and simple. You do not get as big as MS by just burning money and that's what Xbox is.. it's a money pit. MS has to keep investors happy and that trumps whatever random MS fanboys may think.

Xbox division has been making a profit since 2008. Yes, they lost money on the xbox division before 2008, but what happened in the past is done and over. All they can do is keep making profits. Also, Sony should be the ones that worry the most. Losing 2 billion dollars last quarter when the company is nearly bankrupt. Sony isn't going to be here for long if this keeps up. It is offical that the Japanese government will no longer support Sony , so if they go bankrupt thats the end for them.

Now that xbox is going to have Minecraft's next game and Rise of the tomb raider as console exclusives, what is next? I think Microsoft is going to go after a splinter cell game next judging by history. Thoughts?

The premise of your question is faulty because we don't know that Minecraft is exclusive and we also know Rise of the Tomb Raider is a timed exclusive. When you say what the will go for next, do you mean real exclusive, timed or something else altogether?

Microsoft bought Minecraft, the next  game will be console exclusive. Tomb Raider will be console exclusive on xbox one, just like dead rising 3, ryse and titan fall. Talking about console exclusives here.

We don't know that.  Your premise is flawed.

However Sony's Playstation has been making money... so worst that will happen is Sony cuts off the divisions that a dragging Sony down... TV"s and Mobile for instance.  The Playstation brand is very strong and profitable, Sony will do whatever it takes to remain that way! I feel more confindent in the Playstation brand than I do Xbox for sure.

As of 2008 they have been making money? This article would goes a long way in disproving that.
