They are going to use Minecraft to build mobile and they know by making this IP exclusive they greatly cut the amount of money the IP can generate. If they are going to continue to support Apple and Android they will continue to support Sony! Why you ask, well MS wants Mobile the Xbox division is not core. MS could give themselves timed exclusive content or exclusive content but they know by making the IP exclusive they kill the money making potential of the IP. So until anything is said Minecraft will remain Multiplatform. Besides, Minecraft is not really a console selling IP, I have never herd of anyone buying console X because it has minecraft!! That be crazy since the game can run on mobile (cheaper to get into) and a rather low end PC (also cheaper to get into). |
The console version of minecraft outsold the pc version even though the pc version was the only way to play it for the first few years. So yes, Minecraft is a console seller. And to the people stating they will release playstation version, Microsoft never released a published game for a Sony's platform. Gaming consolse are not the same market as mobile.

Do you know what a console seller is? I highly doubt the console version outsold the PC version however I never really looked... BUT the console version when released already had a huge install base to draw from, to assume people bought the a PS3 or Xbox 360 because of mine craft is funny.
While I know the mobile and gaming markets are different picture this, MS cares a hell of a lot more about Mobile and they are going to continue to support iOS and Android until they say otherwise this is going to happen. They know if they cut out iOS and Android they would lose out on a huge amount of cash! Minecraft is not big enough to sway enough people to go to the MS platform in beg enough numbers to off set the loss of potential revenue. Xbox is not a core MS line of business, it's a money pit and investors are growing unhappy. MS however WANTS mobile, if they keep iOS and Android support there is a VERY good chance they support Sony also. It's common sense, Minecraft while is MS owned looks to be independent from the Xbox division. Besides until MS says no to iOS, Android or Sony it IS happening... your opinion is just that and not based on fact and will be until MS themselves say otherwise.
