Honorable mentions to: Chrono series and Persona series. The mass effect series is also a favorite of mine.

A Note: the anime series to Persona 4 is really bad. Very boring, the humor is not good, complex story not exciting. An extreme difference in terms of quality.

PS: Yosuke, Kanji and Adachi are my favourite caracters of persona 4, but yukiko and rise are so beautiful : D

Why do you generalize? As I said, your view must not share the world.
I played Xenoblade Chronicles and the story was not too impressed. Much of it was predictable. The characters were fine. @ bigtakilla

The effort in my top 3 is very large in every way (story, characters, gameplay and scope, soundtracks, attention to detail ). I think we all had a wonderful time with jrpgs : )

1: Xenogears. Why? The atmosphere and soundtrack, not to mention the battle system, are one of the best I've played.
2:Fire Emblem (GBA) This is the game that introduced me to SRPGs. The fact that you were participating in the story is my favorite part of it.
3: Dark Souls: It's basically Zelda with a exp system. What else do you want?

Persona 4 Golden and Grandia 2. Fire Emblem too (Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn), but Awakening was disappointing...

I prefer Rise and Naoto ;) The anime is way too short, you can't put 60 hours of gaming in 20 episodes. Same problem with Danganronpa The Animation, 13 episodes only...
