Thing is, if we do end up with one, it'll be because of me. The whole thing. They won't help pay for it...like, at all.

How many controllers do you need? for $400, you can get a Wii U bundle with Super Mario 3D World and Nintendo Land (or another bundle), plus Smash Bros and a GC contoller and adapter. If you wait a little bit, you may even be able to get a Smash bundle and save even more money...

Additional controllers can be bought for $30 or less, depending on what controllers you want

• Wii U bundle: $300
• SSB game: $60
• 3 Wii U pro controllers: $150 (Could probably find them for $50 each)
• Total: $510

or...

• Wii U bundle: $300
• SSB GC Adapter bundle: $100
• 3 GC controllers: $90
• Total: $490

That is before tax, which would be like $40 in total probably.

I don't understand why people do these things.
It always happens that some game is announced and then you see the comments "oh, no, I sold my xxxxxxxxx" last week
Never sell your consoles unless you are buying a console that is backwards compatible with the console you are selling.

SSB GC Adapter Bundle includes 1 GC controller, and you can get more GC controllers for really cheap if you buy non-Nintendo brand ones. They aren't perfect, but two controllers for 15$ is a pretty good deal. That would be less than 450 after tax, and like I said, a Smash Bundle may come to save you even more money.

Here's how it should look

1. Wii U bundle $300

2. SSB GC adapter bundel $100

Total $400.  That's it your done.

You say your brothers don't help to pitch in at all? Well then, just sit there and play the glorious smash brothers in hd on your tv and say "if you want to play, go buy a controller"   

If I get a Wii U I'd go all in. This means all Nintendo brand. I don't want them breaking it 2 months...

Ha! I could do that I guess. Although, I generally buy things for "the family". They buy their personal stuff but things we all use, yeah, that's on me most of the time. I think it's because they want it but not enough to spend money on it, I'm willing to because I know it'll be fun for us. Either that or they just know I'll buy it for them.

I got the same amount of money back for it. Technically, I lost no money.

Fair enough...still, you could get everything you need for 460 (excluding tax) and that is without any sales or a Smash Bundle. Alternatively, you could tell your brothers to buy their own controllers or ask for them during the holidays...

Also, if you have any wii remotes laying around, you could use those to play. I feel like everybody has Wii remotes lying around, but if you sold your Wii U, you probably don't keep your old/extra stuff (assuming you had a Wii)...

Anyways, I still think its worth it...Smash is the single greatest local multiplayer experience there is (imo)
