Why Sony continues to hold on to phones and TV I will never know......another HUGE loss. Hopefully they can post another small profit soon enough and continue to go in the green at some point in the future. These losses as not good at all and they are indeed in bad shape. Not "going under" out of shape yet but bad shape none the less.

I mean, if they pulled out of everything they make a loss in, that would only leave them the ps division and their entertainment division.  I'd imagine kaz wants a bit of diversity in their portfolio.

Music, Movies, PS, Cameras and their finance(or whatever it is called) division would be the ones left in I am not mistaken....that is still a lot of diversity.

Sadly the only thing Sony has going for them is the PS4.
TVs, Music, Phones, Computers, Vita, even Movies are all dragging Sony down.

Actually thier best division is thier insurance/financial service division(oddly enough lol). Followed by music and movies then finally PS is the 4th best from what I can remember.

Launching a new console is really expensive until things get up to a critical mass in install base. As successful as the PS4 is (beyond expectations of course), 10M or even 15 and 20M install base isn't going to be super profitable. But when it hits 40-60-80M, it's going to start raining money on Sony.

People forget that it takes a TON of money to launch a flagship console, there are soooooo many factors, that simply making $11 per console doesn't begin to recoup operational costs. But when you have 50% of 40-80 million PS4 owners on PS+, all the game sales, accessories, etc, it should shape up to be more profitable than any console in history if it reaches 100M. Remember, Wii didn't have a subscription or much direct-digital sales revenue, whereas Sony should REALLY start cranking it out.

But you have to reach a critical mass first, and we're not there yet. At least they're on track, PS3 is still floating them fairly well from Europe (top software sales). XB1 is not on track to be profitable any time soon, and 360 is tailing off pretty quickly.

Bummer, why do they have to bleed money on the products that I like and actually care about :/

RIP Sony. It is just a matter of time until Samsung buys your remaining wrecks.

Sony messed up with the Z2 and the whole only able to recorded 5 minutes of 4k video before it overheating and shutting down.

That really hampered sales as it was a great phone, I would have got it had it not been for the over heating issue. Sony will be fine, they are resilient. I don't see them selling the mobile business off but I do see the TV line going as that's been rumored for awhile.

Wait was this reply meant for me or someone else lol?

Just a note for anyone :) The PS business will explode in profitability. PS3 only earned a trickle of profits late due to free online + hugely expensive to make. PS4 will be ludicrously profitable once the install base is large enough. I could see PS becoming hugely more integral to Sony over the next few years.

sucks hard, if this goes on Sony might just shrink to a Video Game only compány like Nintendo, i like their TVs but they are overpriced.

and why make 4k tvs that cost thousands of dollars that only some very few rich people will buy... heck if i had the money i wouldnt buy those TVs because there is very little content in 4K be it movies or games.
