Forums - Sony - Sony To Post $2 Billion+ Loss

Good. I have a grudge against them at the moment due to a customer service incident so I'm super biased at the moment and hope they go under completely.

So you hope that tens of thousands of people lose their jobs across dozens of companies because you had a bad call to a call center once regarding one product in one of their many divisions? That's fairly horrible. And to make less sense, I don't remember the last time I had a good customer service experience with anyone. If this was the case, we would all hope that all companies "go under completely".

The nature of being mad. I want Time Warner cable to go under. My internet loves to die every day. And sometimes 4 times in a row. No matter how much you complain. No one cares to actually fix their shit.

Yay... cheap stocks to buy.

Yeah, 10% drop is possible today.  Though owning a non dividend paying share that doesnt have much growth prospects soon isnt too appealing.  Possibly a decent long hold I guess.

Interesting enough, WSJ rate SNE a Hold today.  After reading their reasons for not selling, I am not sure they should sell their mobile unit.  The problem is cutting costs because their revenue is SKY HIGH.  The plot thickens.  Positive is their revenue outpaces the industry.  Negatives (obvious) is that they have problems converting that rev into profit.  You and me would think to sell but investors look at the whole picture.

Its not a bad gamble.  The stock will shoot up over the next two years if these final measures lead to profits in FY 2016.  FY 2015 is obviously  a bust now but FY 2016 is a chance of decent profits and a fast rising stock value.

Well as long as they don't keep tripling or quadrupling their expected loses, like they just did. What kind of gamble did they do with their Mobile Division to incur such loses anyway?

Well I don't belive they are doing that bad. They told me Kaz is doing things right and I have to wait. Just... keep waiting.

So many people were worried about how MSFT spends their money, that they didn't even pay attention to the company they support. Sony has to get a new CEO asap, they just can't keep losing billions.

How Is this a news ? we know about this from March. It is mainly because of restructuring efforts. Such a short memory.

Loss expectations were raised, I think it was "only" 1 billion before.

OT: Sucks, hard

It was $466 million before

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Maybe if they stop sponsoring everything with the PS,cut back on T.V. ads, and forking over all their profits to publishers they probably wouldn't lose so much. I know a company that does it right

Maybe if you had any idea what you were talking about you'd realize this is unrelated to the PS division.

How depressing :(

Is the PS4 sold at a loss or profit?

Has nothing to do with PS4

If it is sold at a loss, then the ten million sold accolade does not matter. But if sold at a profit, then this is even worse, because they are doing really well on the games side of things.

PS4 is sold at profit, but again this has nothing to do with it because if OP had posted an article instead of a neoGAF link, you would know that its because of Smartphones. So again, this has nothing to do with PlayStation other than the fact, that its tethered to Sony.

Sony has posted losses in 9 out of the 10 previous fiscal years. They have fired over 100,000 employees in the past decade. They were forced to sell their NYC headquarters, their Tokyo "Holy Land" building, their birthplace and the majority of the "Sony City" area in Japan. They have liquidated assets at an alarming rate. They have closed gaming division development houses. Their PC division is a billion dollar flop. Their TV division will soon be closed. They lost portable music to Apple. Their American CEO abruptly abandoned the company. They are bleeding developer talent at an alarming rate.

Their credit rating is still junk status at all three credit agencies and now their stock is no longer backed by the Japanese government, making it worthless in the eyes of serious investors.
