Forums - Politics Discussion - Why do "some" religious groups not accept Same Sex relations, but have no problems with Inter- racial relations?

It's not because of religion in my opinion, but because lots of gay people try to try to turn straight people gay. Many politicians are jerks anyway.

You know there's nothing backing this statement at all, right?

Because it got to the point where it was just unacceptable to be racist openly/publicly. Homosexuality will get their too one day, they're just clinging on for something to hate.

And this isn't really aimed at religious people as such but people in general, always need to vent their misplaced anger and prejudice at someone ...

Agree with this. I just wonder wich will be the next victims after homosexuals stop getting the heat. I think its just what some groups make it to be the it group to discriminate. Since religious groups where the most vocal and most religions hate the gays, It sounded logic to hate them and the world agreed. But now that probably they wont band together anymore, some group from the US wich seems to be the most influencial will probably decide the next targets.

It takes genuine talent to see greatness in yourself despite your absence of genuine talent.

I skipped the inevitable and very likely terrible religious debate to say I dont really get this post. Why would religious people have problems with interracial marriages? Is there something in religion about that? Any religion? Not that I remember.

I can only talk about christianity, my faith and religion. In Jesus Christ there is no difference between nations cause God has send Jesus to justify all men, as revelead to Peter, the apostle:

"Now on the morrow, as they were on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray, about the sixth hour:
and he became hungry, and desired to eat: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance;
and he beholdeth the heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending, as it were a great sheet, let down by four corners upon the earth:
wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts and creeping things of the earth and birds of the heaven.
And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill and eat.
But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common and unclean.
And a voice [came] unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, make not thou common.
And this was done thrice: and straightway the vessel was received up into heaven.
Now while Peter was much perplexed in himself what the vision which he had seen might mean, behold, the men that were sent by Cornelius, having made inquiry for Simon's house, stood before the gate,
and called and asked whether Simon, who was surnamed Peter, were lodging there.
And while Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.
But arise, and get thee down, and go with them, nothing doubting: for I have sent them.
And Peter went down to the men, and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come?
And they said, Cornelius a centurion, a righteous man and one that feareth God, and well reported of by all the nation of the Jews, was warned [of God] by a holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words from thee.
So he called them in and lodged them. And on the morrow he arose and went forth with them, and certain of the brethren from Joppa accompanied him.
And on the morrow they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius was waiting for them, having called together his kinsmen and his near friends.
And when it came to pass that Peter entered, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.
But Peter raised him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.
And as he talked with him, he went in, and findeth many come together:
and he said unto them, Ye yourselves know how it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to join himself or come unto one of another nation; and [yet] unto me hath God showed that I should not call any man common or unclean:
wherefore also I came without gainsaying, when I was sent for. I ask therefore with what intent ye sent for me."

Acts 10:9-29

So, for the power of the Holy spirit, God´s covenant with the hebrews now, by the love and sacrifice of Jesus, is extended to all nations, so God do not see diference between nations: "What God hath cleansed, make not thou common."

The same sex union is forbidden cause it is not how God created, since He made man to woman and woman to man. It is the same reason that He does not approve of hibridization of animals, it is not how intended to be, and Jesus Christ did not changed that.
However, for the nations, Jesus did extend the covenant of God to all nations, so there is no longer diference in the eyes of God, all can be saved by faith in the love of Jesus and following his path.

Funny you bring this up. I'm part of the org "Intervarsity" which is a multi-ethnic Christian group on college campuses that celebrate and value various cultures and the different ways Christians of different nationalities worship God.

If you want more information on how Jesus wanted to celebrate multi-ethnicity, check it out at the link below and/or read the book of Acts in the Bible and see how the Christian faith began and spread beyond the Jews.

Jesus is just a reinvented story of the pagan God Mithra. So in reality Christianity is really Mithrism.

"Both Mithras and Christ were described variously as 'the Way,' 'the Truth,' 'the Light,' 'the Life,' 'the Word,' 'the Son of God,' 'the Good Shepherd.' The Christian litany to Jesus could easily be an allegorical litany to the sun-god. Mithras is often represented as carrying a lamb on his shoulders, just as Jesus is. Midnight services were found in both religions. The virgin mother...was easily merged with the virgin mother Mary. Petra, the sacred rock of Mithraism, became Peter, the foundation of the Christian Church."

Gerald Berry, Religions of the World

"Mithra or Mitra is...worshipped as Itu (Mitra-Mitu-Itu) in every house of the Hindus in India. Itu (derivative of Mitu or Mitra) is considered as the Vegetation-deity. This Mithra or Mitra (Sun-God) is believed to be a Mediator between God and man, between the Sky and the Earth. It is said that Mithra or [the] Sun took birth in the Cave on December 25th. It is also the belief of the Christian world that Mithra or the Sun-God was born of [a] Virgin. He travelled far and wide. He has twelve satellites, which are taken as the Sun's disciples.... [The Sun's] great festivals are observed in the Winter Solstice and the Vernal EquinoxChristmas and Easter. His symbol is the Lamb...."

This is besides the point, Spurgeonryan asked why some religions disaprove gays and aprove interracial and I answered, that is all. Pointing contradictions on other people´s religion is 100% hate and intolerance. He made a honest question, I gave my answer, I will not read your article, as I would not read if I was hindu, jewish or from any other religion and you asked me to read an article badmouthing my particular religion.

If spurgeonryan asked why some religions forbid the eating of cow or pig and some user from that faith answered, would you write an article pointing the flaws in his faith, this is just stupid and uncalled for.

By the way, there is no contradictions, you just do not understand, and I will not explain cause I have better things to do than to throw precious things to scoffers.
