I personally, hate Chaos;Head, because of the absolutely terrible main character, the pointless harem, and the utter lack of any meaningful character development or real plot progression.

Maybe Chaos;Child will be different, but since it takes place after the original, and it has very similar settings, I don't have a lot of hope for it.

Star Ocean would've been better in my opinion, but MAGES is doing this "Out of the Goodness of their hearts"

There already seems to be a harem brewing from the very start. You might want to start looking away, then.

It's a visual novel. If you don't want to blow cash on this, wait for the inevitable anime adaptation.

The problem with Japanese visual novels nowdays is that the storyline in most video games, including visual novels, that come from Japan aren't very good. Since a visual novel is basically a video game version of an anime, you're better off watching an anime or waiting for the infinitely better anime version of the same name to come out. 

Actually, most anime that comes out nowdays isn't original and tells the same story with different characters without being interesting.  Western movies are just as unoriginal, but atleast the decent ones are good enough to immediately catch your interest.
