I wouldn't really sell it, probably will not get you much, when compared to how much you spent on it. I would either trade it for a vita though try searching for good deals such as a vita + 4 games + 16gb memory stick. I would also suggest keeping it if you are a fan of borderlands ( Borderlands the pre- sequel ) and Assasins creed ( Assasins creed rouge ), I would also try to modify it as you said you might do in your post.
I would keep it. It's still getting plenty of new games coming out and PS+ will give games for some time yet. Vita is a great system but i wouldn't choose between it as PS3 has way better library

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030
i have the original phat one. The one that came with 20GB. A lot of people are telling me to keep it.. I guess I'll keep it. lol.
yes, it still works!

Nope, all stand alone Blu ray players that are out right now are better then the PS3 since I doubt they still make stand alone Blu ray players with that slow of a drive speed. That being said and going back on topic I would keep it since currently the only way to play all PS3 games is to have a PS3.
Although most people advice to keep it I have made up my mind and will sell the console (at a cheap price) to my uncle. I have no time to play the PS3 and a lot of games I have on PC as well and the greatest PS3 games will probably receive a remake and some others, yeah... it is time to move on. With the money I'll get some new stuff for my PS4.
No Vita, because I'll be using remote-play with my new xperia phone soon. I may be getting a Vita TV down the line though.

The main thing for the Vita is how cheap you can get it, if there are enough games you are interested in playing to justify a purchase, and if you will play it enough to justify a purchase. I got a used Vita maybe around half a year ago for about 100 dollars. It was like new with just a few scratches from being dropped but otherwise it was in great condition. It was a steal, and I've only bought one game... the rest are from PS+. Remote play is pretty crappy for PS3, very few games support it, but apparently all PS4 games support remote play, so that would be a pretty great feature. Since you have a PS4 you probably won't be using it much, so I would think it would be a good idea to sell it or give it away. |
On PS3 the developer had to do the remote play by itself and reserve RAM for it. On PS4, it's all done by the console. The only games that won't be compatible with remote play on PS4 are the ones that use the PS Camera (Move games, future Morpheus titles).
About the OP, I personally don't sell my consoles. I have a PS4 and a Vita as current gen consoles and still use my PS3. But I still have my PS2, PS1 and Master System and sometimes I grab one of them and play it.
I don't get why people do it. Old consoles don't have a decent resale value. If I sold my PS3 with no games, I would get the equivalent of 3 new games for PS4. I have at least 30 titles on the PS3 plus all the PS+ games I got. It really isn't worth selling it for me because I'll always want to play some more MGS4 or God of War 3.
