Yeah! Then again,  both Pokemon Ruby and Pokemon FIreRed played a major role in my childhood, so maybe I'm just biased..

I actually didn't like FR / LG that much though...

But emerald was just awesome!

What do you mean by " the new stuff"? Are you talking about the Sevii islands? I actually loved them! :S

Unfortunately it's already a looong time ago since I played it so I don't even know why exactly.

I personally liked the Sevii Islands, because they extended game-time by a lot! Besides, gen 2 Pokemon could only be found there!

To me the game looks a lot uglier. Very poor remake graphically speaking. Such a shame that Pokémon is in the hands of Gamefreak, one of Nintendo's least talented studios. And probably the most laziest one in the entire game industry. 

What are you comparing the graphics to? It definitely looks better than X and Y because the overworld game camera is more zoomed out like the original Gen I - V games. The Pokemon model look the same and if not a little better as well.

Compared to the colorful gameboy advance's graphic, then it depends on your preference to sprites and cell shading. The character models of trainers are pixelated and jarring in X/Y and ORAS, though. The in game cutscenes are pretty great, though.

And what ways do you think GameFreak is the laziest studio in the game industry? I find some aspects of Pokemon lazy in terms of their progression in sequels, but their online functionality is always one of the best in Nintendo games.

The game looks amazing. Ive been waiting for this remake for forever! Its my fave in the series. I grew up on R/S/E and FR/LG + Colosseum/XD:GoD
