I can't be the only one that noticed that the Nintendo Directs that we all knew and loved are gone. We did not get a single ''real'' nintendo direct all year. We did get NDs in 2014, but let's look at what they gave us...

We had a Super Smash Direct, a MK8 Direct, a Hyrule Warriors Direct and now tomorow a Bayonetta 2 Direct.

So it seems that NDs entirely focussing on only one single game is the new trend, and I don't like it. Gone are the days where we had a Direct, all speculating on what we are going to see, being surprised by new game announcements. Now all we receive are dull small details about the games that they might as well leave for surprise for when we buy the game. The Smash Direct was awsome, but because they are so many things interesting about smash, it's so filled with content and mechanics that we could talk about it for days. The MK8 direct sucked, the only interesting part was when they talked about online, other than that they mainly talked about mechanics we already knew. The Hyrule Warriors was not very good, It kept my attention because I mainly did'nt know much about dynasty games, but despite that they still failed to make a announcement that was worth my time, Cucoos in the game?! Whoa! Who cares, let me buy the game and I'll find out about these small little details such as cucoos and chain chomp chains, none of the announcements are worth being hyped for this direct...

Now we get Bayonetta 2 tomorow. Seriously, is anyone super hyped about this? We all know a bunch about this game. By now most of us should know how interested or uninterested they are about it. What can they possibly say about the game that would be new to us and that would change how we feel about the game in 20min? What they are probably going to tell us is some details about Unbram Climax, talk again about nintendo costumes and I expect one new costumes announced or a bunch if they say they are also in bayo2. Maybe show us a demon or two, talk about the score system and a few small details about the gameplay. Nothing at all to get excited about, just small tiny dull things (important but dull for announcements) that they might as well let us discover on our own.

So you got what I feel about the ''new'' NDs. What about you? Do you also think that what they announce in these directs are to small to replace the excitement of getting new games announcements? Or does the small details captivate you and help you get hyped for the game they are talking about?

I think its mostly cause they don't have anything major to announce just yet. Like okay, there is the new 3ds but that ND is still coming imo once they got more things put onto place like how they are going to handle the transition and what games will be coming. The reason they are doing game focused ND is cause they want to promote the upcoming games thats coming to the wiiU and I think its working for the most part. Game focused directs really do get people hyped about the game so I think its a good thing instead of having multiple directs announcing the same thing with some new stuff

In other words, I think they still have the old directs, just less frequently cause they dont have anything to new announce just yet

I think they will return, Iwata needed a break and did the 3DS Direct last week like the old ones.

I personally don't mind that!

All i care is that tomorrow's direct brings us Bayo in Smash.

Unlikely as that may be.

single game ND is better than no ND.

I find these directs to target the gamers who don't know much about these games more than those who traverse gaming forums daily.

Not necessarily. The February ND was like the old ones. After that it turned into a ND that covered individual games.
Although, in Japan, where they had stuff to announce, they kept also doing NDs the old way.

If i`m right, and NEW 3DS means Gamecube and Wii ports, next year you`ll see your usual NDs more often!

I also dislike that...
It takes away the surprises!
But its better for people who only want to see certain games, but I'll watch anything anyway..
