How is this "games behind a paywall" exactly? It's not like you can't buy these games otherwise now. And you guys like to be pessimistic about anything.  Some people see value behind this service and they don't constantly spell doom and gloom.

Fixed that for you. What you don't seem to understand, and fail to learn from recent history of DLC increase its that this practice WILL lead to all games from that publisher being behind that paywall. Sure they will give you a 10% discount but good luck playing the game/multiplayer/dlc without owning the subscription.

You mean that unless you subs to EAA you will not be able to buy any of their games? When we'll get there we'll talk. Until then don't act like it's fact.

That's exactly where they are headed. It's the ultimate form of DRM. What better way to make sure people purchase the games they play then by keeping access to those purchased games behind a subscription? Remember EA's huge on trying to push DRM on people, and this is just their first step to doing it on consoles. After all piracy is huge on consoles. All they are doing is taking what MS did with XBL and what Sony did with Ps+ and combining it and instead of using it on some aspects of consoles they will be doing it with their games. Which is very dangerous. Don't act like it's not going to happen. it is a fact that it will happen so long as people sit back and let it happen. Open your eyes and look around, look at history. EAA, Uplay, Windows Live, it just a matter of time and we are at the doorstep so why should we wait until we get there? By then it will be too late. Instead we should be talking now, we should see the danger signs, and we should understand how much of a slippery slope this is and where it is obviously heading. If we speak up now, if we tell them now we won't stand for the future they want then we can stop it from getting worse.

Its almost imposible to argue with them. The only thing they can see is how this will benefit the x1 and are not thinking long term to see how negativly it will affect the gaming industry.

LOL it is a massive rip off.  They rotate the games out every month, and then you can no longer play them (Even if you have downloaded them).  Also they offer some pretty insultingly old games...

Whether it's a "rip off" or not is a matter of opinion. As far as "massive rip off" goes, that's an even more extreme opinion.

No, they don't rotate out games every month.

No, they don't offer "pretty insultingly" old games, either. Though, please, when using completely subjective and personal definitions for something like "insultingly old", please provide context. What degree of "old" actually insults you? If someone offers you a 3 month old game, are you insulted? 6 months? At what point do you start to feel insulted? None of the games on the program are even a year old.

And I have seen multiple people referencing the TOS where they say they can remove games out of the vault at any time. It's as if these people are completely new to digital games. This is to avoid a situation like Double Dragon or the TMNT or some other games last gen where the publisher lost control of a license and had to pull the game from PSN/XBL. Furthermore idk about some of you but I won't really care if in 2016 if the service is still around, EA goes in and removes Madden 25 and Madden 15 plus removes Battlefield 4 since we'd probably already have Madden 16 and Battlefield Hardline/5 in the vault.

Maybe you have heard this poem before by  Martin Niemöller.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

If you wait for things to get bad and affect you directly its going to be to late by then. The same thing that happened with DLC.

This will happen in stages like it was mentioned before. First you wont be able to purchase DLC day one without it. Second there will be exclusive content. Third they will lock existing contet with out it. Then you will only be able to get the game with it. Finaly every third party publisher will do the same and to enjoy diferent games you will need like over $200 a year in subs to play.

First, gaming is expensive. Say a person buys 4 games in a year at launch with pre order deals. $65x4=$260. Should i continue?

Sixthly all the third party companies will partner with different banks and require you to pay for the required subscriptions with credit cards from their respective banks. Think "Ass Creed 12, Sponsored by Capital One!".

Next all the third party publishers will just make their own consoles because why not? Wanna play Madden 19? Better buy the EA Machine, then sign up for a Wells Fargo credit card so you can subscribe to EA Access in order to be able to buy Madden 19.

After that the publishers next step will be controlling what you can actually experience their content on. Want to enjoy Destiny's 9th expansion pack? Well assuming you already own CoD Console and have a Bank of America credit card so you can buy Activision Next in order to be able to access Destiny, I hope you have enough credit left to buy a Samsung smart TV because that's all it will work on!

The next logical step after that will be for them to control what you wear while playing. Wanna play NBA 2k21? Well, assuming you own the 2k Sports add-on to the 2k Gamebox console and you have a Chase credit card which is the only way you'll be subscribing to 2k's sports option on their 2k Premiere package which is of course required just to be able to play 2k21, and you bought a nice LG to play it on, well, you'd better be wearing some Air Jordan's and FUBU boxer briefs because otherwise they don't want your money.

But imagine how much money they could make off of electricity providers if they licensed their games and consoles out to them. So you signed up for a Citigroup credit card to buy the Squeenix Gamething since that card is required for their Squeenix Plus service which is required to be able to play Tomb Raider rereboot and you even went out and bought the required Wrangler explorer jeans but you aren't using Reliant Energy to power all of those electronics? Well shit looks like you just wasted a lot of money.

The last step of course is that in order to play the game you have to transfer $200 into a kickstarter account as publishers will then look to make games directly fund development of the game itself. And if you pledge that money you get day one access to some DLC, assuming you subscribe to that publishers service on their console hooked up to their television partner while decked out in their licensed gear sitting in light provided by the sponsored power company.

It's a slippery slope we tread on, friends. For all of our sakes please stop subscribing to this nonsense. XBLG and PS+ is all we need. Oh don't forget PS Now.

So you expect to pay over $200 in anual fees to play games you might not event want? Or wait for those games to drop in price, since third party games tend to drop price in a month from release, specially eA games. This games are almost a year old, buying them all probably wont cost anybody $50 total. If you epect to pay $65 for a game, then its not going to be an old game, and EAA does not put new games, and is uncertain to even put the game you like in the vault. They will add games when they stop selling and by then you could buy them for dirt cheap.

I can realy see you reflected a lot on the poem.

Joke all you want, but history is repeting itself. DLC and timed exclusive content where the first step. Something tells me its people like you who laugh about it now, the ones who will be first to cry when the shit hits the fan.

DLC and timed exclusive content has been around for years, almost two decades it seems. If you're telling me in 20-40 years some of your wild predictions might maybe eventually perhaps maybe come possibly true, well, I'll gladly take "crying" over it then than crying now over the mere maybe possibility it might eventually down the line potentially happen. Thanks.

I can really tell you are trying hard as hell to push your opinion with the poem.
I expect to choose the service that fits me and buy newer games when i choose to. If it comes to that. What is the problem? Why are you desperately trying to paint this from your one sided view?
Ive yet to play Mass Effect 2&3. Sitting on my desk. They are new to me arent they? Or will you argue that they are old lol.

Any and every thing can be a system seller for someone, somewhere. Thats why its important to have a wide array of games and features.
