This will happen in stages like it was mentioned before. First you wont be able to purchase DLC day one without it. Second there will be exclusive content. Third they will lock existing contet with out it. Then you will only be able to get the game with it. Finaly every third party publisher will do the same and to enjoy diferent games you will need like over $200 a year in subs to play.

Sixthly all the third party companies will partner with different banks and require you to pay for the required subscriptions with credit cards from their respective banks. Think "Ass Creed 12, Sponsored by Capital One!".

Next all the third party publishers will just make their own consoles because why not? Wanna play Madden 19? Better buy the EA Machine, then sign up for a Wells Fargo credit card so you can subscribe to EA Access in order to be able to buy Madden 19.

After that the publishers next step will be controlling what you can actually experience their content on. Want to enjoy Destiny's 9th expansion pack? Well assuming you already own CoD Console and have a Bank of America credit card so you can buy Activision Next in order to be able to access Destiny, I hope you have enough credit left to buy a Samsung smart TV because that's all it will work on!

The next logical step after that will be for them to control what you wear while playing. Wanna play NBA 2k21? Well, assuming you own the 2k Sports add-on to the 2k Gamebox console and you have a Chase credit card which is the only way you'll be subscribing to 2k's sports option on their 2k Premiere package which is of course required just to be able to play 2k21, and you bought a nice LG to play it on, well, you'd better be wearing some Air Jordan's and FUBU boxer briefs because otherwise they don't want your money.

But imagine how much money they could make off of electricity providers if they licensed their games and consoles out to them. So you signed up for a Citigroup credit card to buy the Squeenix Gamething since that card is required for their Squeenix Plus service which is required to be able to play Tomb Raider rereboot and you even went out and bought the required Wrangler explorer jeans but you aren't using Reliant Energy to power all of those electronics? Well shit looks like you just wasted a lot of money.

The last step of course is that in order to play the game you have to transfer $200 into a kickstarter account as publishers will then look to make games directly fund development of the game itself. And if you pledge that money you get day one access to some DLC, assuming you subscribe to that publishers service on their console hooked up to their television partner while decked out in their licensed gear sitting in light provided by the sponsored power company.

It's a slippery slope we tread on, friends. For all of our sakes please stop subscribing to this nonsense. XBLG and PS+ is all we need. Oh don't forget PS Now.

Joke all you want, but history is repeting itself. DLC and timed exclusive content where the first step. Something tells me its people like you who laugh about it now, the ones who will be first to cry when the shit hits the fan.
