Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft Has Big Goals for Xbox One in Japan; Believes Market Share Can Change with the New Generation

I would love to see an XBO upset in Japan. Let's be real, though.

They should not even bother with Japan. WTF?!

Welp good luck with that one MS, unless you do something big there you won't be doing better than the 360 in Japan, probably be lucky to do the Original Xbox's number there if I' being honest.

Thats the thing, the 360 had some solid, good japanese focused games and it still did terribly overall.

I don't even know why theyre bothering, they'd have done better to just skip japan entirely and spend that money on something better, I say that as a japanese resident, too.

I feel like MS are a cute puppy chasing the light of a torch off of a cliff.

I don't think so it will bomb there like it's father and grandfather before it

Sounds like Microsoft doesn't think Japan is a waste of money.
;P

In this day and age, with the Internet, ignorance is a choice! And they're still choosing Ignorance! - Dr. Filthy Frank

Actually it's not that impossible. The Japanese market always behaves the exact opposite of the western market.
So X1 could be a huge success there.

At least they're going to be trying. How that translates to sales, we'll have to wait and see.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they try with the Xbox 360? I remember Blue Dragon being a thing they were pushing.

"I want a better performance than our past consoles. With a generational change between game consoles there’s a possibility that the market share could shift as well. We have set big goals."

Yikes.  I don't know how to respond to this.  I mean, they sold 146 units last week in Japan.  Anything would be an improvment.

he is probably right but market shift could probably happen between wiiu and ps4 in japan.
