Forums - Nintendo - Here Is How the Gamepad is Used in Xenoblade Chronicles X

If it clears up the HUD, i'm all for it. It looked really crowded from the few videos they showed off.

Off topic, but my god that screenshot looks awful.

A full sized map screen which I don't have to pause the game to use will be good...if not particularly thoughtful. Playing some RPGs on my 360 right now and looking at a minimap in the HUD or opening a menu are actually quite distracting, especially if you're trying to do things fast.

I really wonder if Nintendo's hardware team spent any time talking to the software teams. I said early on with the Wii U that I believed in its potential and I still do...I just don't think Nintendo had a great hardware idea and they went ahead on it without good software ideas to match. A map is nice, but it really doesn't do much. If that's the best you've got three years into the system you should drop it for a price cut and sell it as an extra

It was a poorly chosen shot, but then again there really haven't been many direct feed shots released, so it's hard to find a pic that really captures the game's beauty.

I know the main drive as far as artistic/graphical appreciation is the landscapes. I played the original Xenoblade and while the graphics were not the best, it still was pretty impressive as far as scope.

That being said, I hope we see some progress on charater models. If i'm gonna relate to anybody, I need something at least easy on the eyes.

There's still about a year before its release, so the characters can still be touched up.

They really need to do something about the character's faces... Like jeez, they look ugly

They look like a Japanese porn 3D movie.

And like that.... the thread is derailed.

Finally a game that makes use of the gamepad. Would like to see a game that solely needs it though, like Skyward Sword solely needed WiiMote motions.
