This thread is full with people talking out their rear-end. I'm still waiting for a link as to where you getting your information from. This is not a hobby, report me. Till then I want to see proof.

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wii_U

just check the shipment figure there. The only one talking out of their rear-end here is you.

Edit : incase you don't trust wikipedia, here's nintendos official financial report:

http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/pdf/2014/140730e.pdf

shipment numbers are on page seven.

What, you're a parrot.  You say the exact same thing I say.  I read it, what did you read?

Geez, the irony of your posts in this thread is brilliant, calling other people dense while displaying such a huge lack of understanding of the subject at hand is hilarious.

OT: Don't know about the X1 but the Wii U is overtracked clear as day, especially if you consider that 60k of the 80k supposed worldwide stock are located in Japan.

You call me dense for saying that the Wii U is overtracked, and now you say that you agree and that the Wii U is overtracked?

Look, I read something about 6.68 million in June.  This is August going on September.  I don't know what you saw, but I am not agreeing.

Yeah, and we're using VGC figures as of June 28th. That makes sense right? Comparing VGC figures from June 28th with shipped figures from June 30th?

Who you suppose to be?  If I'm wrong I'll apologize.  Help me understand.

No, it don't make sense.  I'll wait for Nintendo to say otherwise.

edit: I don't trust either source but Nintendo to have the exact sales figure.

Some points to consider:

retailers have been keeping much smaller inventories of Wii u because they just didn't expect it to sell. Shipments likely increased after MK8 release and inventory numbers were depleted. This wouldn't show yet in the nintendo figures to June 30.

X1 - We have all seen retailer comments about it not selling like they expected, indicating that they were sitting on a pile of inventory (especially in the EU). Retailer price discounting before the price cut corroborates this.

That said , its unlikely my theory accounts for the entire difference........

I give up. You obviously ignore any evidence presented to you. Judging by your posts in this thread you probably wouldn't accept that the Wii U is overtracked even if total sales numbers on VGC ends up being above official shipment numbers.

Teeqoz, you believe in one source and adding/subtracting (whatever you're doing) to come up with a number from another source.  I kinda understand a little what you're doing, but I don't believe either to have the exact numbers.

As an aside - the Nintendo report has the Wii at 101.15million WW and 896 million software units sold (VG has 878million to Aug 23).

Wii U software: The nintendo report says 44 million. VG chartz says 28. Can the difference ALL be the eshop?

The biggest gap though is in 3DS software. The nintendo report as of Jun 30 has 171 million games sold. VG has 143.7 as of Aug. That's a pretty big gap.

Nintendo's own forecast for Wii U is 10.5 million by March 31.  I think they'll do that by christmas.

It's actually all explained in the OP, at the end of June Nintendo had shipped 6.68 million units to retailers, vgchartz shows the system at 6.60 million sold to customers, leaving only 80 000 units on store shelves, that is highly unrealistic. It becomes even more unrealistic if we consider that vgchartz has Japan at 1.81 million to customers at the end of June while Nintendo shipped 1.87 million to retailers in that region, leaving 60 000 units in stores in Japan at that point and only 20 000 for the rest of the world.

Compare it to June last year, in 2013 vgchartz shows the Wii U with 450 000 units on store shelves worldwide out of which 50 000 are in Japan.
