Sounds like he wants it to be Gears of War and the weapons to be high-powered technology from the future.

Gears of War is the standard for TPS games and good reason for that with both great story and top-quality gameplay so of course it will be compared to what EPIC has done with the TPS genre.  Just like kart racers will be compared to Mario Kart or platformers will be compared to Mario, its not much different.

Either way im interested in this game still.  Not blown away by it because im not a fan of the setting, but i hope it does well at least in the story department.  If its story is good im not too worried about the gameplay as i think it looks fun enough.

Idk i feel like Uncharted took that crown a good while ago for the most part. Everybody is trying to be like Uncharted now more so than Gears these days. I also feel that Uncharted has better gameplay overall than Gears but when it comes SPECIFICALLY to "gun play", Gears has Uncharted beat in that category.

Remember me looked like Uncharted Me, Splinter cell blacklist was pretty much Uncharted Cell blacklist. I was watching an ign video of Saints Row( i cant remember which one) and they were in a mission where they were going up a building and shooting a buch of guys and at a specific point that i wont spoil, something happened and the guys at ign who were playing the game were like "oh look guys, it's Uncharted. It's Nathan Drake."

I was also looking at some gameplay of Halo 4 a little while back and at the very beginning of the game, there was a part i was watching that made me say to myself " wtf is this!? Is this Uncharted now?" Lol.. I havn't played the game so i'm not sure if that was the only part like that.

Just like CGI youre talking about something completely different than i am.  Im talking about Third person-shooting not cinematic gameplay.  And Halo 4 is nothing like uncharted.  In fact cinematic gameplay has existed well before Uncharted including Gears of War.  Set pieces etc also existed well before Uncharted.  Literally there is only one game like Uncharted and that is Tomb Raider. I can not think of a single other game that plays like it. While i can think of lots of Gears clones i can only think of one uncharted clone.

Splinter Cell also doesnt play like Uncharted for the record.  And Halo sure as hell has nothing in common with Uncharted.  Go ahead and look at cinematic set-pieces over the years.  Whether it be Halo, Call of Duty, Battlefield, Gears of War, Alan Wake, GTA, or almost any game with a story, this stuff has existed for a long time and translates nothing to TPS games in specific.

Most of the journalists who work for a major publication suck ass at video games, and it often comes down to their lack of skill as to why they bash a game.  Unless the game is given a free pass because it's advertised as a difficult game, this happens way too often.

I think the reason this is more a discussion than with other journalist reviews of other games, is that this game has been getting similar treatment by regular people who got hands on with it. Just go to the GAF hand-ons topic from gamescon, all the same concerns raised. All the same concerned worry about the game falling far short of its promises.

Does everyone just suck at The Order?

Pokemon X/Y had a gym that played like Uncharted.  Enslaved Odyssey to the West, Castlevania Lords of Shadow, and Remember Me, are all exactly like Uncharted with how the traversal works.

I just read it on IGN. It's disappointing to say the least but there's still a lot of time until it launches and this is just one man's opinion.

Even if it will end up being crap that wont matter since it looks good. Todays "gamers" (actually mainstreamers) dont care about the gameplay in games but about A) the visuals B) action C) ads on tv etc. So as long as it has propper marketing it will sell because the game already delivers in A+B

That didn't help Beyond: Two Souls or Ryse all that much. As for the marketing aspect, it's obvious if you market a game the better it will sell. So of course even if you heavily market a poor game it will sell, but it can only sell so much on marketing. At some point quality does override marketing.

Cinematic set pieces didn't do it how uncharted did it until Uncharted came out, obviously. Also i'm not talking about story. I'm talking about GAMEPLAY where you can actually die.

I'm not saying that Halo and Uncharted had a lot in common but that specific part that i'm talking about in Halo 4 was an obvious Uncharted influence.

Also, i just played Splinter Cell conviction. It plays like Uncharted.. Not as good but it plays like it. The motherfucker moves around JUST LIKE Nathan Drake. I just played this game like 3 weeks ago before trading it in..

Hmm.. So when you say Gears Of War "clones" you're talking specifically "gun play"? And you're saying that the gears clones are only gears clones because they havrhave similar gun play?

You said that The Order looks like Gears and i'm guessing that is also specifically because of the gun play, right? But when i look at The Order, The gun play doesn't look as good as it does in gears to me. The only thing i see that looks like gears is maybe the cover system? Which almost all TPS games use now.. Or maybe you're talking about something else..?

lol, the author is crying because he can't spray and pray ?

that's not how rifles work in real life, why should it work in games? because 95% of the gun games want to make you feel like a super soldier that managed to beat recoil with sheer will and muscle power?

xD lol  The world we live in is Uncharted haha

Sucks to hear about this game because it really has my interest. Well I still can't wait to see/hear more about this game. And from reading the article I am confuse on what he is saying....is he saying the game plays bad or the games doesn't play like eh expected? Well anyway hoping this game turns out to be good....

....side note why do a lot of people think about Gears Of War when looking at this game? Gears outside of being a TPS with a cover system is completely different from this game. And my goodness the "clone" crap is getting annoying and old. Especially seeing as ALL games have taken from other games in some sort or form so every game is basically a clone in some shape or form of something. Geez people give that a rest.....

The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence...

Conviction was announced before Uncharted came out. And it plays like Splinter Cell. Or have you not played the earlier ones?
