For 8 months of the Xbox One's life worldwide the PS4 was $100 dollars cheaper. That's why playstation 4 is ahead.

Yeah, Kowenicki already tried this argument.  Didn't work out very well.

The Xbox One w/Kinect sold better than the Kinectless Xbox One. Check NPD. How is Xbox One gonna catch PS4 when it's getting outsold consistently by WiiU?

jega you brought up xone destiny closing the gap, destiny is well ahead for the ps4..on multiple best sellers list(not just amazon) for months when only the singular game (the console bundle wasnt offer yet) was the only option available for both the ps4/xone,the ps4 version was in the top 10 for about 2 and a half months while the xone version was somewhere on page 2 on amazon...even today with some saturation taking place with the ps4 version of destiny,it still sells more copies(i should technically say pre-orders) when you combine the singular game only copy(ps4) along with the console bundle(ps4) destiny vs the singular game only copy of destiny xone. a decent chunk of bungie xbox fans have moved on to ps4...

another last gen staple for the xbox brand was madden, that also is no longer the case going by different best sellers list from multiple big chain stores

uncharted is atleast on par with gears when it comes to sales(god of war might be a little behind),,gran turismo (different genre, but were talking sales)has gotta be close with sales or even a little better(gran turismo 6  suffered last gen fatigue  f-king badly) than halo

Funny joke thread! This is a joke thread right? RIGHT?

OT: No it wont

I expect the new Call of Duty to boost PS4 more than XOne. I expect Uncharted 4's boost to match, if not out perform, Halo 5's boost. We barely know anything about 2016.

What makes you think Uncharted is going to out perform or even match Halo? To my knowledge, it's never happened. Halo is beyond anything Uncharted is in the US as a brand. Not only that, but the genre itself (FPS) is much more popular.

I don't think Xbone will ever get close the PS4, but I think Halo 5 is going to be bigger than any exclusive Sony has. Sony's strength is the numbers. They have more AAA games that people want. MS strength is in how the few games that they have, sell in ridiculous numbers.

We also have confirmation PS4 is well above 10 Million. PS4:X1 is roughly 2:1.

On a virtually equal install base, Uncharted 3 managed ~7.7% attatch rate. The past 3 games have only shown increases.
Halo 3 managed ~14.4%. Halo Reach and 4 aren't going to see the same numbers as 3.

Looking at the current install base, with all signs pointing to PS4 only improving its win ratio, the history of both series, SONY's improvements on the marketting front, signs point to a near equal performance, or Uncharted 4 leading in sales from my stand point.

Ironically, the Call of Duty bundle isn't even doing that WELL at the moment on Amazon. xP Last I checked, it dropped off the top 100 bestsellers list a day or so ago, was sitting at 115 thereabouts. (But it's beating the Sunset Overdrive bundle at least!) Madden bundle climbed into the mid-twenties a few days ago. By contrast, the Destiny bundle for PS4 hasn't seemed to drop below 35 in over a month, and has been in the top ten vicinity (between 8 and 12, most often 8) for longer than Madden's been in the 20s.. =P And the PS4 base console seems all but permaglued to the top 5. (Xbox One base unit's been in the 50s and 60s.)

So yeah... thus far, Halo's looking like literally the only chance you've got.

The problem with your comparison is that the COD bundle is a holiday release.  The sales bump that the OP is describing would happen much closer to the release of the bundle.  Call of Duty buyers are much more casual buyers and get them at the last minute.  THe Destiny bundle is also the release of the white version of the PS4.  Sure to be popular in its own right.

An excellent point. ^_^ In the case of the Destiny bundle, however, while the sales are DEFINIELY going to be top-heavy on initial release- given how it's been tracking, boggles the mind how many must have been preordered by now- I'm less convinced that there still won't be a residual sales bump afterwards, i.e. that it won't continue to sell very, very well even after pre-orders have been fulfilled, as friends of newly converted gamers hop on board to join in De Fun.

The point of the statement, though, was to highlight the OP's use of CoD as one of the 'central pillars' that would propel the Xbox One into the U.S. lead, and global parity. It isn't simply enough to have your sales boosted, not if your competition is enjoying similar boosts; whereas Advanced Warfare will likely be the anticipated blockbuster title that gives the Xbox One a boost, Destiny is looking to be the anticipated blockbuster title that gives the PS4 a boost. And at the moment, all that can be said with certainty is Destiny's looking primed to give the PS4 a VERY big boost.

Right now, Advanced Warfare might do the same, but there isn't much in the way of hard proof; it's been dropping in the charts steadily, and technically there's already BEEN a Call of Duty game on next-gen platforms. If that wasn't enough to bring the CoD crowd over to the 8th gen, there's no guarantee this is going to be the big game-changer either.

The prediction doesn't match current trends.
The prediction doesn't take into account that the PS4 has sold more overseas than in the US, even though its also ahead there as well.
This prediction doesn't take into account that the PS4 will have its own exclusives.
This prediction doesn't take into account the fact the highest selling games this gen are multiplat.
This prediction doesn't take into account that the PS4 has sold double the Xbox One.
This prediction assumes that the PS4's global sales will collapse in such away that only US sales will have an impact on units sold.
This predication assumes that, contrary to data on this site, games like Gears of War and Halo produce sustained sale increases.

I think it is possible, but is it possible for someone to come up with a prediction that doesn't violate established understandings of the data we have at our disposal?

After what Titanfall did, I'm going to have to say no. Will be a fun thread to come back to.

The way I see it the best version of COD on gen 8 consoles will be on PS4, and by end of 2016 PS4 could be flirting with 50 million.  It will take way more than all the Halo and Gears of War players to beat that.

My 8th gen collection

Lol the PS4 is also going to sell, keep that in mind. Xbox isn't just going to sell while the PS4 stays at zero units sold.

Your thoughts only work in a market bubble where Sony doesn't exist. Sony already has a big gap and the gap alone will sell consoles to friends and family, without even the need of games. Then there are the Sony big hitters like UC4, Bloodborne, The Order and most likely some TLOU2. Then there is this whole VR angle which will probably not sell too much but will increase the gap unless MS does the same.

As long as the gap is growing everything works against MS and they will have to do a lot more than just bring the games.
