The last of us never fails to perform, even in Japan! PS4 is gonna be fine once some japanese games hit, beginning with Yakuza in December and Bloodborne after that.

Yeah the Japanese will throw away their handheld devices once they can play the 3-4 Japanese games that come out on a yearly basis for home console.

Not particularly surprising week.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Your insinuation is reflective of your own thought process, not mine as i didn't say that. But one wouldn't always be able to start something if everyone stayed on point.

No, he's right. The PS4 isn't going to go anywhere in Japan because two/three titles that are, as of already, marketted more to the west than the east. Meanwhile, the developers who actually support the brand in Japan are still working with PS3 and, probably, won't be so eager to jump to PS4 due to the budgets required and the new tech. They will be more likely to move to handhelds entirely or just keep the PS3 going.

Eh, Capcom and Square Enix have already moved away from PS3 and onto PS4. They published the top 2 selling games on PS3.

I meant the niche developers who are supporting the Vita/PS3 from smaller studios but published either under larger brands or otherwise, they don't have the capital to make haphazardous jumps to new hardware with no install base... and everyone has seen how well Sony supported Vita. SE and Capcom are huge studios... and SE has fallen far while Capcom hasn't exactly inspired confidence or made good games in a while (outside of their portable MH series).

Resident Evil is still huge, and FF15 will still do over a million.

As far as niche developers, they're already off PS3 and onto Vita. Compile Heart is already making PS4 games and NIS has announced they're making a PS4 title. Are you referring to Namco?

Not aware of NIS making anything other than Natural Doctrine, which is not a PS4 exclusive title and as such no real reason for Japan to move from their already established PS3/Vita. Though I did forget Compile Heart. The others are still producing for PS3 or were until recently, but, yes, Vita and 3DS are eating up the entirety of whatever is left of the market that hasn't been completely canabilized by mobile.

As for the rest, RE has become a joke since RE5/6, its still a big name but its become rather... bad. I don't see this moving consoles at all unless it turns out to be some sort of Capcom reneissance like RE4. FF15 is probably a long, long way away.

NIS didn't make natural doctrine, they're just publishing it. That's Kadokawa Games.

NIS is currently working on and planning more games for PS4. That'[s an NIS executive, not a NISA person.

RE may have become a joke, but RE5 and RE6 sold extremely well. Sold better than RE4 by a lot.
