PS3 did and the gamers that got one. Xbox 360 was not a bad choice though.

PS3.
ps: include a poll, if possible
3DS, Wii, PSP, Vita, PS2, PS3, PS4 & Steam.
In many ways the playstation lost considering where they were, but you were still better off owning a PS3. So a loss for Sony sales wise, a win for gamers when you look at the games we got over the six years.
Buying order: Switch, better pc
PS3, far more diverse and overall higher quality exclusives, timed exclusives/also on PC do not count for me.
The 360 was winning... until the 2nd half of its lifecycle. MS had the perfect chance to close it out and they failed. In the end, the PS3 won for me, not just in userbase, but also in games. What the PS3 offered was a lot more diverse and high quality.
While MS did take a lot of marketshare last gen, they failed to build on top of that success. I can't really call that a win. This is especially true when MS rolled over some of their 2nd half strategy to the X1 (e.g. emphasis on the Kinect, less emphasis on games, etc.). It ultimately did not sit well with the consumers...
