Forums - Nintendo - Will Hardcore Gamers Ever Purchase Wii U Games?

What a stupid question is this? Harcore gamers buy WiiU games.

The question should be "Will easiliy impressed (visually) mainstream gamers buy WiiU games?" The answer to that is probably not. And thank god thats the answer because everything that gets mainstream is shit compared to what it could be with its potential.

Yup, unless you like Animal Crossing!

never played it

you have to beat f zero gx story mode then you are a hardcore nintendo gamer because its a freaking nightmare.

I did manage to do that a few years ago during a summer vacation, but I think I destroyed a Wavebird controller in the process if I'm not mistaken! :S

I know what you mean.. luckily I had only one controller so that was out of the question.

What is your definition of "hardcore gamer"?

Zombi U imo was pretty hardcore, in some instances it had a larger difficulty than Dark Souls.

Hard-core definitions:

The most active, committed, or doctrinaire members of a group or movement. http://www.thefreedictionary.com/hardcore

Intensely loyal; die-hard. The permanent, dedicated, and faithful nucleus of a group http://www.thefreedictionary.com/hard-core

The most active, committed, or doctrinaire members of a group. http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/hard-core

Very active and enthusiastic. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/hard-core

These definitions certainly describes most of us on a dedicated forum like this. So what shall we call those that come around for the dudebros games that Ubisoft wants to sell?

If this is the definition of hard-core gamER, what is the definition of hard-core GAMES?

A hardcore game would be one that requires a lot of skill and dedication to get through. Something that's not easy to find and has a user base of very skilled gamers. So a lot of indies may fall into that category, at least the ones that mimic the old school arcade games that were very punishing. Most games like Battlefield, CoD, AC, Minecraft, and other yearly releases that people play mostly for multiplayer and populated mostly by young teens and pre-teens would likely be considered casuals. In my book anyways.
