You say you see it as oversold. And how you just don't see any games coming. When you say this what do you mean? Compared to what? What in your opinion has or do you see having games that are worth owning a system for as opposed to say a PS4? I am asking this cause I want to have an idea of what you mean by games. if you look at the last gen and the number of game of the year awards giving to games, as funny as it may sound the playstation platform has the most exclusive game of the year rated games... |
I needed to prune this a little for us to not clutter up the whole board.
I see where you're coming from. Blind and biased criticism is never useful to someone on the other side of the fence.
My oversold comment is mostly in regards to the buying trends I see. People buy it because its the new PlayStation, and its affordable. And this time around, the advertisement campaigns have been a far cry from the stylized and experimental This is Living and The Third Place campaigns, that concerned themselves with aesthetic statements about entertainment. The PS4 ads have been philosophically empty, focusing on action with friends and nostalgia.
Ande this leads into your question of what I consider games. I don't play online games, I have treid many times, but I am still struggling to see why it is entertaining. A game like Nintendo Land, woefully misguided in its presentation and naming though it may be, is a game that fully sells me on the Wii U for instance. Five player local, showing why the GamePad matters. It's a hoot and a holler and nothing like anything most have played before.
While I know that the PlayStation platforms always end up delivering in the end I just don't see why people are excited for anything the machine does yet. It's exactly the same games as on the last consoles, just prettied up a bit and with social fluff. Oversold on promises of reigniting your fondness of games from yesteryear. This is a bias, but I'm biased to my own tastes. The same goes for the Xbox One. They could've made something special, but they decided not to.
