You should quote Nintendo instead. They say it's a remaster.

I think what they ment by that is that they redid the visuals like brightened up the colors, added better lighting and etc... I mean, just calling the graphics "remastered" doesn't make the game a remaster

But alright, if you want me to quote Nintendo... Here is an interview where the Iwata and the developers are calling it a remake

http://iwataasks.nintendo.com/interviews/#/wiiu/wind-waker/0/5

Happy?

In that same interview, Aonuma also says you can believe it's also a completely new entry in the series. So, full sequel then?

Really? Cause to me, what it sounded like that any new players playing the game will make it seem like they are playing a new game and not an old game. New as in a current generation game and not an old game from 10 years ago

And lets not forget, they say Remake time and time again in many interviews related to WWHD

Clearly a remaster

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Remaster. Resident evil 1 on gamecube is the real definition of a remake, compare this to the original and people would notice a completely different game with the same story.  That been said, WW is a very good example of how to make a remaster.

Great post! :)

RE1 remake is definitely one of the best remakes in terms of overall improvement (additional content, etc) The Pokemon remakes are another example (if you played pokemon, you kno there is such great value to each new one!)

It's pretty much the same thing, but looking at the definitions of both of them, it is closer to a remaster.

How are people calling this a remake, it's clearly a remaster. A remake is a completely remade game where they start from scratch and build the game again, a remaster is using the original assets and enhancing the overall game and this is clearly what WWHD is.

Examples:

Remake:
Oddworld: New & Tasty
DmC: Devil May Cry

Remaster:
The Last of Us: Remastered
Metal Gear Solid Collection

It is a remaster. The right way to do an awesome remaster.

And maybe the best game i played in 2013.

It's pretty much a remaster. It steps into remake territory with the Swift Sail, Hero Mode, and cutting down the end-game quest, but the most important change was in visual quality. Mind you, that change was really drastic, but at the end of the day that visual upgrade was most important.

Well DmC is a reboot but I agree with the rest.  WWHD is just a remaster with relatively extensive rework.. much like The Team ICO Collection and maybe Final Fantasy X HD.

Well yea not a very good example, but it's a re-imagination of the original.
