That's bullshit and you know it, Jay. It only adds to the flame wars. There's a very good reason for why you and other Xbox/Nintendo fans believe Sony fanboys to be the worst, and that's because they attack the brand YOU prefer. Sony fans think the same about Nintendo fanboys and Xbox fanboys. Sony has always been competing with both Nintendo and Xbox while Xbox only seems to compete with Sony and Nintendo only with Sony too.

No not really the reason at all i said it but im not going to talk about it any further either.  YOu will either agree with me or not.  You dont agree with me which is fine

I wonder how many times we get a "Sony fans are the worst" thread. Must be at least once a month.

Not sure Microsoft are the bad guys here. Very little of the hate seems to be going their direction. The real venom is being directed at Square and Crystal Dynamics.

A lot of people have bought every single Tomb Raider from the first on Playstation consoles. Then suddenly the rug is pulled. Jim Ryan has said that console exclusivity was not even offered to Sony, so it was obviously a spite move because of the share sell off. So all of the people that have ensured that the last Tomb Raider sold well above 2-1 on Sonys consoles suddenly find themselves punished by huge Corporations flexing their egos.

I totally understand the boycott of squares games by lots of fans. Mass unsubscribing of ff14 and people saying "Because of Tomb Raider," as a reason will have some effect. PS4 will be approaching 25+ million sold by Xmas 2015. If it is ugh last gen too and counting in PC, and in all truth why would it not be on Wii U too if sales for that platform continue to rise? That could be quite a few hundred million gone. If MS have paid only 20-30m for 6-12 months exclusivity this is the silliest business decision a company ever made. More so if the Rise is fully exclusive. I'm not even sure if it wasn't for the publicity that this would even shift many units 15 months from now.

For me personally I'm not too bothered either way. I can understand all sides. If the Tomb Raider Franchise crumbles into dust because of this deal though, the blame won't lie at my hands.

"Referring to Rise of the Tomb Raider specifically, had Sony come out and announced that it had got a timed exclusive deal I guarantee you, without one shred of doubt, that the large majority would have been praising Sony and their genius"

Stopped reading there, what a horrible article.

Did you stop reading because it's true

Why should I? This is a generalize article with prejudices.

Maybe but sony fans seem to be especially toxic, no matter what microsoft does they hate on it while praising sony for whatever they do. Sony did alot of shit to the xbox brand much worse then this tomb raider deal. They actively tried to kill xbox off, stopping devs and muscling them away from the platform (they did this to nintendo too) and they did it with probably 100s of games not just a timed exclusive. Where the first game would appear on all consoles and the sequeal annouced as ps2 exclusive.

Xbox fans have taken a back seat because the ps4 fans out number them and are now eating alot of humble pie. I think ps4 fans are especially vocal because alot used to be xbox gamers and made the switch and now have to justify their purchase.

"no matter what microsoft does they hate on it while praising sony for whatever they do"

You can apply that to any fanbase.

I didn't say that was the reason you said it, I meant that what you said adds to flame wars instead of doing what you apparently want to do (detract from flame wars). Saying Sony fanboys are the worst is looking at the world with bias. It's just that Sony is competing with everyone, which is why Sony fanboys seem to irritate more people.

I do believe Sony has the worst fanboys, and also believe they'd be cheering if TR was exclusive to them instead.

This!!! If Sony had made the deal everyone would be fine with it, but when Microsoft makes a deal like that then Microsoft ruined the gaming industry!!!

I doubt anyone is mad at MS for making the deal... if i were them I would try to... hell I would try to make every single game exclusive to my platform if I could get away with it. Thats business, just MS being MS.

What people are upset about, and by people I mean the very people that were responsible for the majority of sales the previous game got.... is that SE took the deal. In chess its called killing a poison pawn. Only person that comes off ok for this is MS (and even that is debatable), SE and the recently rebooted TR IP, not so much.

As I have already said in this thread, if anyone finds out they get a game on their platform that person would be happy. And if anyone finds out that they aren't going to get a game that they were expecting to get on their platform... that person wouldn't be happy. How this is so hard to understand is beyond me.

I mean come on, just looking at current gen (PS4/XB1), you take a franchise that had almost 4 times more sales on one platform compared to the other, then make the sequel and tell the people that bought it more that they don't get the game (albeit until later) and you expect them to be happy about that?

That's why the whole situation with TR was bullshit. If 90% of TR sales were on the Xbox, I could understand where SE was coming from with their decision, why waste money on making ports for platforms were the fanbase is very limited? But not only were the majority of sales from Playstation and PC, but the message if it was or wasn't a timed exclusive was horribly unclear, so they've just confused and angered the majority of their fanbase.

Did people overreact? Oh definitely but still, MS, CD and SE should have all expected that and they should have been prepared to deal with it, were they? Nope.

Yeah, just like Microsoft fanboys were cheering for TR becoming "exclusive". All fanboys are fanboys. For fuck's sake.

It still doesn't make it any less true (In regards to sony fanboys praising Sony if this was Sony getting exclusivity)

Instead MS fans would complain

Yeah I already noted that in an early comment.
