Well, it's 720p upscaled to 1080p. It has a bloom filter, etc. These are pretty minor expected things of a remaster.

The neogaf link kinda proves my point that these things are noticed and pointed out because of the great magnifying glass the series gets put under. A lot of it can be summed up as "We made changes to conform with modern game design. It's easier and we added an optional higher difficulty."

the original is in SD there really is no reason for you to mention that it was upscaled from 720p to 1080p. it seems to me you throw all facts out of the window. they changed literally everything when it comes to graphics and they even changed some of the gameplay mechanics. you cant deny all of this. if this is not a full fledgeg remaster then nothing is. its basically wind waker 1.5

TLOUR was 50 dollars in US, 38 pounds in UK and 42 euros in EU.

It definately was not 42 € here. It is sitting at 55 € this very moment on Amazon.de

I do think it's a full fledged remaster. That's it though. I do not consider it to be a remake.

Look at FFX/FFX-2 HD. It's considered a remaster despite far more time being spent fro it.

You're both wrong. It's a Remaster

So, I've noticed a few "self-righteous" Nintendo gamers vindictively criticizing the Last of Us Remaster's price. In response to that, I made this little thread to see if their concerns have any sincerity to them. Yes, I am referring to The Wind Waker HD. And No, I'm not making a direct comparison to TLoU:R but instead to something more comparable. The Sony HD Collections..

The Wind Waker was an absolutely gorgeous game that I wasn't fortunate enough to play for more than 60 minutes on Gamecube. So I'm totally buying the HD version when I get my Wii U one day. But.. correct me if I'm wrong, I didn't see any issues within the Nintendo community in regards to this "HD Remaster" costing about 3X more than Sony's HD Remasters! (Not to mention Square's, Konami's and Capcom's too!) That's right, "Greedy" Sony's HD Collections retailed at $40 in comparison to WWHD's $60(?) Hence each Collection had at least two games in one pack (3 in the case of Sly Cooper). So what is it exactly that warrants the ridiculously higher Nintendo pricing? is it just them openly taking advantage of the fanbase's loyalty and appreciation? or is it something else?

Why do gamers accept Nintendo's tradition of rehashing games at almost full price? Personally, I'm mostly indifferent since they don't force their games down my throat and the high price may translate to weaker sales. But shouldn't I remain consistent and treat Sony the same way in case they made a similarly "Evil" move?

10 year old game remaster (which can somewhat count as remake because its more then just better resolution etc. it has completely new elements and textures  NOT just same textures in better resolution)

Vs remaster of a 1 year old game with original (but high res = still no work at all) textures
(they just used the same textures as on PS3 but didnt "compress" them that much. People usually design better looking textures and then compress them until the fit onto the target platform. See stuff like SleepingDogs PC HD Texture pack etc.)

TLoU PS4 is a port of a "new" game which devalues the original game. Why not make it PS4 exclusive instead of giving PS3 owners a subpar game with miserable framerate probably knowing that a PS4 remaster will happen anyway?

Thats the difference. its not  "fuck remasters" but "fuck remansters of games "new!"  TLoU PS4 is the reason why I will never buy TLoU on PS3 it lost alot of its value to me.

Also the problem with Sony's remasters like GOW etc. is this:  "lets remove the PS2 compatibility from our PS3 and then sell simply upressed versions of our old games WITHOUT new textures or effects etc." This one is a cash grab.  WindWaker HD or Halo Anniversary Edition (which is probably my most favorite HD remaster (thanks to the awesome "press SELECT for retro look"feature) is not.

So dont act as if both is the exact same thing.

The difference is that the game was over 10 years old when remade (late 2013 vs early 2003), as opposed to 2 years even.

This argument doesn't work with the HD collections that I'm comparing the game to.

Those are simple HD ports without any changes. WW HD had a laundry list of gamechanges (speeding things up, adding fast travel options etc) and a different company reworked the textures on top of the modern lighting system.

Things like the Sly collection really aren´t compareable...

Just curious, what are these other cashgrabbing re-releases? The New Play Control series? Metroid Prime Trilogy?

WWHD was $50 and wasn't made a year after the original
