Forums - Gaming Discussion - All this publicity could be great for Rise of the Tomb Raider

There's a saying that goes all publicity is good publicity. There is no such thing as bad.

I honestly think that the amount of publicity raised because of the exclucitivity will only help TR sales. People will wonder why there was such a big reaction over one game, and will purchase it to see. The game will then do better than expected.

The backlash may actually help the game succeed in the long run

Can't argue with that lol.

The game isn't releasing till Holiday 2015, the heat will die down by then obviously.

It's the next Titanfall. Only that it will have less hype and will sell less.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Everyone talked about simcity or da2 when they were released and for some weird reason their sales dived after the first wave of pre order sale. So all the negative publicity may not be good.

True, but many people will still remember the infamous reveal. Not to mention that the game has been put into a much bigger spotlight due to this issue, and will probably see much more media coverage as well.

I don't think the average consumer will jump into Xbox One for this game, at least won't be something really noticeable, it will get almost the same as if it were on PS4  too. What do you mean by better than expected? expected by who?

Definitely possible, but a lot can change in a year. We don't exactly know all the games coming out next holiday season and this game could be an afterthought compared to many other games.

I don't mean it'll be good for the Xbox One, I mean it'll be good for the game. Existing owners of the Xbox One will probably be much more interested in it now that it isn't just another multiplat. The publicity will help people learn about the game.

And better than expected by a lot of the people who are determined that the game will crash and burn due to being exclusive.

True. It is all speculation, a lot could change over the next year. We'll just see. A lot hangs on how well Microsoft advertises the game.
