Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Rise of the Tomb Raider Timed Exclusive for Xbox

SE had to have known beforehand what it would do, their expectation should appropriately be really low, cause if they where pissed at selling 7 mill was it? there is no way in hell they can sell more than the XB1's userbase. MS must be making up the difference and or SE doesn't expect much.

They could be paying for everything except manpower. They have the money to do so xD

Lol, this means exactly that they are walking away from their fans on PlayStation. And after TR sold more on PS4.

This is some fine bullshit indeed. I don't know about you guys, but this is a fine time to complain on all the social media against Crystal / Squenix.

Sold Most on PS3

Many of the 3rd party exlusive deals you guys will be seeing over the next 2 years were signed deals before the consoles really went on sale so 3rd parties have no idea at the time which console would sell more.

Starting development for a next gen game is very expensive, and being able to focus on one console means less staff, shorter dev cycle, and probably funding and marketing from the platform holder.

Its an enticing offer and one that a dev who could use the extra help getting a next gen game up and running may be interested in. Its the start of a new generation, welcome to the wild west.

So is it coming to PC or not?

I don't care if it goes to PS4 or not, i don't NEED to play it on PS4. I need to play it on PC or PS4.

Alright well, I can understand maybe some don't have enough cash to buy all consoles and if so then yes I'm sure this is frustrating.

But its business. That's just the way it works, unfortunately at the end of the day it isn't always about making the consumer happy.

I'm unbelivably salty right now. But I totally understand it, and frankly I don't have to like it, but I'm buying it anyway...eventually.

Edit: Cause Unlike Bayonetta, I actually wanted this from E3 trailer.

And I can understand that. My only beef is with the people screaming about how MS is a terrible company for doing this. Will the reaction be the same when Sony announces?

I'm curious. Very curious.

I think people are more upset at Square Enix for turning their back on Playstation gamers.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

A deal was done to make a PS4 exclusive game

Here, a deal was done to keep a multiplat game from being multiplat.

I still cant find anything official from Square Enix, Crystal Dynamics or Sony that actually says this was a PlayStation game after it was first revealed. You got me anything official?

As far as I know platforms were NEVER announced. The game was likely a MS exclusive for a while now.

The reports MS was going 3rd party purchase crazy in late 2012 - 2013 is real, and Scalebound and Tomb Raider are the 1st 2 examples with more to come.

I don't see that honestly.

Before the XB1 released, everyone in the industry assumed they would win the US, and be relevant in the EU. They're losing the US, and are borderline irrelevant in the EU. Moneyhatting TR and Scalebound won't even nudge the needle.

How expensive would it be to moneyhat something that actually mattered like FIFA, COD, Madden, etc?

I actually hope the XB1 fails now. I never felt that way before, but if they feel the best use of their money is to simply pay money to keep more games away from more gamers, then yes, I hope they continue to falter, and for Xbox to die with the 8th gen. I'm actually going from a mild dislike of Xbox to a pure hatred of everything they stand for. I will celebrate every crap NPD result of theirs with glee.

OH SNAP!!

Even during the E3 thread, I said this was my most anticipated game of the show. Glad I got an Xbox One, now!

No idea like I said earlier I knew NOTHING about this.

For all I know its only a timed exclusive who knows. Im simply saying its the start of a new generation, "Betrayaltons" are at the point in the cycle they are by far the most common. There are other 3rd party exlusive games coming for both sides. I mean on Xbox alone we already have

Insomniac - Sunset Overdrive

Crystal Dynamics - Rise of the Tomb Raider

Remedy - Quantum Break

all 3d party games, and all exclusive. Throw in Ryse and Dead Rising which were exclusive for like 6-7 moths and you see what I'm getting at.

The beginning of a new generation always brings big 3rd party exlusives. Its one of the ways platform holders entice purchasers.

If it doesn't come to PS4, I wouldn't buy it on my X1 either. I believe they just did a stupid thing, and should suffer in sales for it.

They didn't even think of the fact that TR sold most on PS3 and TR: DE sold most on PS4.

The title's developer, Crystal Dynamics, said it believed the tie-up would help it advance the action-adventure game's brand. Wow...just WOW!
