Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Rise of the Tomb Raider Timed Exclusive for Xbox

Huh, I was under the impression that Bloodborne was being made by the Demons Souls / Dark Souls team with Sony simply funding it? Am I incorrect?

If so thats still a 3rd party game they essentially purchased. They are paying a team that is not their own to make a game for them. Even if its their IP.

Regardless who cares? I mean seriously? Its all just video games people. Go buy an Xbox One as well as a PS4 and hell even a Wii U. It makes the hobby much better not having to worry about not being able to play games. This is far from the only 3rd party exclusive we'll see this generation.

Some people don't have wads of dispossable income.

Seriously, I don't even get why people bother trying to stop the whining when all they are doing is encouraging it.

Just let it happen, how long did people take to get over Bayonetta 2?

That game was only on PS3 and 360.

Now you have a game that was previously on PC, PS3, 360, PS4, and 360, going exclusive to the smallest base.

So why wouldn't some people get mad?

Lol

So me keeping a level head and simply being a gamer and buying everything is bullshit.

You guys who care about these pieces of plastic are so bizarre to me. Honestly. Do you guys even enjoy the hobby? Like do you people play games for enjoyment or do you simply do this so you can argue with each other over the internet about pieces of plastic and code?

Not everyone has the money to buy all the platforms, so seeing someone buy a 3rd party title that was definitely coming to multiple systems simply to keep it away from more gamers is .. a dick move.

Nothing against you or people that do have the money and enjoy owning all the platforms. That's wonderful.

But please understand that funding a games development and making it possible (which Microsoft HAS done from time to time!) is not the same as 'here's a bag of money, shitcan everything except the port for our console'.

If Sony bought GTA6 exclusivity, or bought BF5, or anything similar, they'd be on the shitlist as well. Those are games that would have come ANYWAY, so it's just wasted resources imho.

Paying for games = good.

Paying for games to stay away from more gamers = shit.

... Safe to say that this is either going to be the kind of leverage that the Xbox platform needs to gain some ground, or this entire situation is going to plunge them right back into PR hell and damage their sales even further. Which would actually be a little amusing, because they've only now finally climbed out of that particular hell. I'm thinking about Europe in particular, because considering Sony's usual advantage there, I can't help but think that those regions aren't going to be especially thrilled with what is being done here. And the kinda displeasure usually translates into lots, and lots, and lots of trashing said platform.

Being developed by a 3rd party studio - From Software

and sony.

sony could make a souls game without from.

they didnt bcuz we all know who is the creator.

well look at bayonetta and DMC.

DMC sucks without kamiya and co.

Good for Xbox owners. We have uncharted and they have tomb raider. And if its timed exclusive then I can say its again a wrong move.

No, From Software and Sony Japan co-developing.

BenV: Demon's souls was the same thing.. Sony didn't just publish, they also co-developed.

Even if it is co-developed, a deal was done to get From Software on board.

The example could be expanded to other developers too, though the overall point remains the same. Each of the big 3 platform holders do this with 3rd parties. This isnt a Microsoft only thing.

Here, a deal was done to keep a multiplat game from being multiplat.

Alright well, I can understand maybe some don't have enough cash to buy all consoles and if so then yes I'm sure this is frustrating.

But its business. That's just the way it works, unfortunately at the end of the day it isn't always about making the consumer happy.

Stupid Sony fanboys, just shut up and get an Xbox.

What was the last 3rd party game that was already a multiplatform series that Sony bought after announcement? Purely to buy it, not to fund it's creation?
