Why are so many people pissed about it's exclusivity?
I thought Xbox needed more exclusives to warrant a purchase?

It needs first party exclusives, just like any platform. Not this

so i expect the same reaction when sony announces some 3rd party exclusive

cant wait to see this game in action

A 3rd party exclusive that was previously confirmed for Xbox, sure. Imagine the backlash if they announced Destiny was now only on Playstation

Destiny is a much much bigger game though.

Trust me, Microsoft has more money than Sony and they will purchase every exclusive for the XBox one as they can get, and they will not spend alot of money just for a timed exclusivity, not for a title like this!!! Everything or nothing ;)

In that case they would've bought CoD and Destiny by now. Probably FIFA and AC too. Not a small timer like TR

You should read first, I said "as they can get", so Activition would never want that COD or Destiny is exclusive to a console especially not because COD is also big on PC!!!

I did read. They can get anything since they have loads of money.

Theres announcing a 3rd party exclusive...

Then theres announcing that game already announced for multiple platforms is now exclusive (Imagine..Witcher 3, Batman Arkham Knight, Mirrors Edge 2).
The reaction would be exactly the same in any of those cases.

So? It was a stupid business decision then.

How do you know? You know how much money microsoft gave SE? But what do I know? I guess a bunch of people on online gaming forums MUST know better then a multi-billion dollar corporation!

Because multi-billion dollar companies only make good decisions? I'm saying that it's a bad decision because I don't see this especially helping the X1 but I see it very much hurting the Tomb Raider franchise, SE is basically showing the middle finger to maybe 70%-75% of the Tomb Raider fanbase, in exchange for a sum of cash, that amount better be fucking massive then.

And I'll continue treating this as a fullblown exclusive until I see a PS4 announcement.

You don't see how making a PS franchise not available on PS (or PC...) would get people pissed. Put yourself in their shoes

Rise of the Tomb Raider was already announced and was multiplatform. This deal effectively cans the PC and PS4 versions.

We get upset at "buying exclusives to keep them off other platforms" but there's a difference between "We'll pay you to only develop this game on Platform X" resulting in no other versions being developed.....and "We'll pay you to stop development on Platforms Y and Z" meaning that planned versions got scrapped.

Apples to oranges

that would be a big one and would probably ruin bungies releationship with every xbox owner lol

Just like SE/CD ruined their relationship with PS owners today.

They should rename this game to Fall of the Tomb Raider.

Zing! :D

In all seriousness, it may sell okayish.

I doubt it will make anywhere NEAR the sales it would have had being multiplatform though. The '4M' sales of TR was for all platforms, including the hundreds of millions of PS3s, 360s, and PC, right? How's it going to go just being on the lowest-selling Gen8 system?

I guess SE feels alright letting the series die out, it never has caught fire post PS1 (and honestly it declined bigtime while the PS1 was still a current console!). In that case, SE already got their cash, and they actually made a smart decision imho.

Microsoft, OTOH, just made another harebrained bonehead move that won't help them a bit, won't bring X1 owners a new game with the investment, and won't return on the investment anything close to what they paid.

It's gonna be funny watching Tomb Raider now be hyped as a mega system seller omg plz buy it now that it's exclusive.

Thanks jlmurph!
