Seriously, the names of consoles this gen are just so, eh

Wii U: I didn't know what "Wii" stood for in the first place, this is just that, but with a U at the end. I guess it means that the console is about YOU?

Xbox One: Probably one the worst choice of words for a console, did they genuinely want to confuse  people and make them think this the first Xbox?

PS4: Nothing new here, just the fourth playstation, go on with your day.

Which gen had the best names in your opinion? I think it was 5th

Nintendo 64: It was in your face like "We are 64 bit and the others are 32 bit, GET N OR GET OUT!"

Playstation:  They said it was a station for playing and that is exactly what it was

Sega Saturn: Coooool, it's named after a PLANET. Don't really know what the console had to do with planets, but hey it sounds cool right?

Gen 3/4 had some pretty cool names.

Why does no one consider handhelds anymore? :(.

Anyway I would think it's the generation that had the Gamecube, Dreamcast, Xbox, PS2 (aka dvd player.) and Gameboy Advance.

Advance is soooooooo coool sounding, and so is Dreamcast.(unfortuantly it failed.). I don't find any games console with the "game" in it creative so yeah.

Gamecube. i cube for fucking games! still sounds cool to me

PlayStation 2: playstation always sounded really good. and it felt right with the "2" after.

Xbox. its a box, its an X. its the xbox. anyways, xbox sounds cool too.

xbox one and a ridiculous name. so is WiiU.

Xbox One probably refered to MS wanting ONE box to control you entertainment, hence the HDMI input to control your cable box and all the video crap they were promoting at launch.

WiiU is by far the worst name for a console ever! Like what were they thinking??? Like, you can somewhat justify all the other names but wiiU? Really? Wii was already a stupid name that I thought couldn't be beat but nope, they one upped it with the wiiU. I hope Nintendo learnt their lesson cause they need to realize that when they make stupid decisions, it has consequences

Like, I get the wii part. The wii was a massive success that sold like free anal sex with ice cream sundae's and they probably looked at the Playstation and Xbox branding and they wanted to make their own console brand apart from just Nintendo so I get it but instead of adding something logical like a 2 or a HD at the end, they added a U of all things. Like come on, it is every marketting divison's nightmare to advertise that thing and make people understand its a new console and not just an added accessory to the wii! Heck, the wiiU console part looks like a bigger wii! I swear, they better call their next console something not thought of by a 5 year old or else I am gonna go on a rant

The 4th gen had hands down the best names! The Super Nintendo had "SUPER" versions of all your favorite NES games ( plus more) and the Sega Genesis was an all around cool name! The Neo Geo wasn't far behind either!
