Forums - Gaming - It's time to accept it, PS4 has won the US this gen

Way to early to call it. Things are still rather close, regardless of who is outselling who.

A huge holiday could push this either way.

No way is a holiday push alone gonna swing the gap closed or over a million. The competing console has to flop get significantly outperformed as well. Else the gap won't budge.

Last generation after 1 year (all consoles on the market) it was 'clear' that the Wii would dominate in every way (pfft, third party support never did eventuate did it), Microsoft would be passable and that Sony would get crushed.

Not one of those things happened.

Blowing your wad early mister.

PS4 - 3.76M
XB1 - 3.13M

Yep, impossible...lol

This about sums it up xD lol

@OP  Maybe PS4 will win, its certainly has a lot of hype to run with as well as being slightly more powerful.  Then again Microsoft has been securing a lot of big exclusives.  There is also this small game called Halo.....

But yes, PS4 may win, it may not but this thread seems a little premature to rule out either one lol

PS4 is more than slightly more powerful. I think Xbone being sub 1080P will haunt them this gen.

Destiny might be really big for PS4. Next year Sony got big games too so I think it will be tough for Xbone to recover and gap will grow unless it is cheaper than PS4

It's really not as important as the core audience would have people believe.

The general consumer who buys consoles when they're under $300 probably won't care and will be looking at soft libraries/exclusives that match their entertainment preferences.

I expect developers will do what they can to make the hardware gap less noticeable over the generation, even if there is still a difference that only the most discerning players will care about.

Even if upcoming multiplats look, play better on PS4 but both are 1080P  or sub full HD then it won't make much difference. But otherwise  a neutral consumer looking to buy console and does any sort of research. I cannot see him picking a console running sub 1080P for same price. I think that number make a difference and might turn off people even if they game on less than 40inch HDTV

Its definitely possible for XOne to still take the US. PS4 isn't outselling it by much in the US. I think Halo will actually have a good increase in sales for XOne and maybe even the upcoming Call of Duty could help with XOne sales.

Not sure why NA consumers would buy an XBO for CoD when it will run and look better on the PS4.

MS might broker some timed exclusive content deals, but nothing that would sway anyone looking for the better version of the game.

Those who don't care will probably be content to continue playing the next CoD on their XB360 or PS3.

Yeah because your average CoD players is worried about pixels on a screen /s

Not sure why few seem to get this.
The first thing someone is gonna do when comparing PS4 and XB1 is
"What's the difference?"

Entirely unnecessary.

You're asserting that such an outcome is impossible. Some would argue that it is likely, others that it is unlikely. Very few that it is impossible!

It may very well have. But calling it at this point in time, when a LOT of things could happen in the next few years, and the PS4 is currently only about 2 mil ahead of Wii U, is still a bit premature.

Any of the systems could still wind up winning this gen, honestly. Just not the Xbox. *knee slap*

They already won before it even started.

Which is why your average CoD player isn't going to buy a $400 console to play CoD when their existing XB360 or PS3 plays the same game.
