Having watched Maoyu and Spice and Wolf, I can safely say that neither comes even close to RR Martin in terms of the insane amount of political weaving and drama. I haven't watched Simoun, so I'll take your word for it.

While not quite political, Baccano! juggles tons of plot lines like Game of Thrones (both the LNs and the anime) with a giant amount of characters, none of which you could call a "main character"... The tone and style are very different but they both manage to be absolutely amazing. I'll stay out of the rest of this debate though :3

Baccano did come close to the style. I wouldn't say it was quite political though...

The POVs were done amazingly well, however. I loved the setting as well.

Alright guys, in the end Sabagebu, Aldnoah.Zero, and Terror in Resonance are the Anime Club watchlist for the season. We will now discuss the episodes as they come out, no spoiler quote needed (just put spoiler at the top of your post to be safe, though).

I'll be updating the poll tomorrow.

So, I've got a ton of unfinished shows in my list (check signature). Can someone suggest a show to start/finish?

Gonna ignore that some say "waiting for blu".

My picks would be:

Elfen Lied of course

Binbougami ga! One of the most overlooked animes. Makes a great mix out of wacky comedy, merciless parody, a kickass MC and even drama played straight.

Some Tari Tari for fun (and some drama)

And of course Witchblade

Also a friendly advice. Drop FF Unlimited. It doesn't get better, it only grinds more and more. I say that to you as someone who watched all of it because he inhales everything with the name Final Fantasy on it.

I meant more specifically from this part of the list, but those are definitely good suggestions.

The waiting for blu was meant to signify wanting to watch but waiting for the blurays to get subbed.

Haikyuu really is amazing. I just hope this will spawn even more amazing sports animes.

Kuroko no Basket is the peak ;)

Jk it's the only sports anime I watched, then again it's the only one to hook me like that.

Wow. From the first look this is gonna be a very long list of recommendation. A lot of great stuff in there.

I'll try to limit myself to the best/most special of those.

Aria - one of my all time favorites. Very quiet, actually the perfect anime to put you to sleep. But in a good way. If you connect with the characters it will be especially enjoyable. If not, it can be a drag. But if you commit to it you will have 2 special moments in the last(3rd) season of it. I'm still bawling my eyes out even thinking back to it. So beautiful. So positive and sad at the same time. It really is an experience. Drop it if you can't get into it because it's not gonna change from what you've seen in the first episodes.

Blade & Soul -  I am not recommending it because it is great but because it is jarring how much better it is than how it presents itself. It looks like your generic game based boobie fantasy anime a la Koihime Musou but it's not. It actually picks up a number of very serious topics and goes quite deep. Even though the story centers around mostly very sexualized females it doesn't focus on fan service. It naturally has it but the characters and the story are king. It's an anime that will be dismissed by a lot of people right of the bat and I can't even blame them for it. I thoroughly enjoyed it as a very pleasant surprise.

Bokura wa minna Kawaisou - Just a very lovely romcom. Really sweet with a great cast.

Chuunibyou 2 - Lots of comedy, but also lots of serious romance. Probably as good as the first season

D-Frag - Just absolutely great. Easily best comedy of its season and hilariously crazy.

Kill la Kill - Because it is the best Anime of all time.

No Game no Life - Intelligent, funny and fan service heavy anime. Got enjoyment out of every episode. Killer Brother Sister duo.

Sabagebu - Obviously

Space Dandy - Liked the first Episode? Watch the rest. Every Episode is absolutely unique and standalone.

Yuru Yuri - It's Yuru Yuri. Gonna get better and better. Cute girls doing wacky stuff.

Also if you enjoyed any of the comedies I recommended you, definitely watch Azumanga Daioh and Milky Holmes. Stat!
