Forums - Gaming - Homefront (and entire Crytek UK) acquired by Deep Silver

I just hope Deep Silver doesn't get into trouble biting off more than it can chew--essentially what happened to Crytek.

Deep Silver is backed by Koch Media, which is a very large multinational media company. And all these deals are very inexpensive.

Unless they get greedy to repeat THQ's mistakes, they'll be just fine.

Well, I wonder if this means Deep Silver have acquired Crytek UK. I hope so.

If they have they better have got the Timesplitters ip in the deal as well!

I just want a new TimeSplitters dammit! I don't care who makes it, I just want it! :-/

Crytek is just a rubbish company. The problem with Deep Silver, is that DR was a fluke and they know it, they desperately need new IP to stay relevant.

Assuming you mean Dead Island, they have also got Metro, Saints Row and now Homefront.

Sounds like a lineup a certain THQ would have. And we know how that ended.

Alright! Thank goodness that Homefront is saved because I really liked the looks of it when initial details came out.

THQ flamed out on uDraw and crappy movie tie-ins.

Deep Silver seems to be less greedy and more controlled.

I enjoy their games and will continue to support them, and Saints Row and Dead Island are great games within their limitations.

I've even decided to get Metro Redux, even though I'm not a shooter fan.

So Crytek UK/Free Radical was having development issues? Go figure. Maybe these devs need to make a career change..

Update: Crytek has issued a statement detailing further changes to its operations following the divestment of the Homefront IP. The developer also says that, in accordance with UK law, all staff from Crytek UK will transfer to Deep Silver to continue work. This indicates that Crytek will no longer have a UK presence.

Oh geez, I should've realised that.  Doh.

Here's the law it's referring to if anyone is interested:
