4-5 months ago it was very obvious that PS4 will pass the WiiU very fast in japan, especially after the first week sales with people expecting it to happen in a few months now people are jumping to the weekly japan sales thread and dreaming PS4 sold more than Wii U that week :s..

This is simply a prediction based on a dream rather than based on any real information, you don't know what games will all release in the next +28 months... I give your prediction 10% chance to be right based on the information we have know...

but there already is 6 months of data to support my claim and july is in the bag,.. my "prediction" is already ~20% of the way to being met.   if i had made this prediction back in january/feb then it would have been bold indeed.

things as they are,.. this prediction is very obvious and ho-hum hense the downgrade to italics.

Dunno. a price cut/3DS remodel could change that. Maybe even a wiiu remodel with a big price cut(eh).

anyway, how long was the wii record?

hmm, I think you're right. But the month Halo 5 releases might push X1 ahead of PS4. And if there are any future price cuts that undercut the PS4 by at least $50, then I think that could help X1 outsell the PS4. But it will only outsell the PS4 in the month of the price cut.

Looking at the current Halo 4 player population levels I think it's safe to assume that Halo 5 will not provide the boost needed to push X1 ahead of PS4 for one month.

The Halo 4 population levels aren't a good measure of how popular Halo is. The multiplayer had lots of problems and many fans were disappointed with it.

Halo 4 is not an example of franchise fatigue. It is a sign of how people want classic halo and want to play that rather than the new direction 343 took it. Besides it sold amazingly well and had thousands of people playing it for the first few weeks which would be enough to win NPD in that particular month.

Who knows... The other consoles could have price cuts (real ones) during lame summer months.
But yeah, I think it will never happen in November or December.
