Yeah, the game was going to get perfect scores regardless, not sure why people are salivating so much now. It's the highest rated game from last gen ported to this gen, of course it's going to have great ratings.

Which is so funny given that the "biggest shooter release" this holiday is a collection of old games, but that's fine of course.

Because games don't start out with a score of 10 and then get deductions.  They start out at 0 and earn their way up to a 10 or whatever.  Gamestop just didn't think the last of us was worth more than 8.  And I can tell you first hand that if you were not a huge fan of the genre or the story, you could very easily give this game an 8 or less.  How many times can one do the same ladder/plank/raft puzzle before he goes insane?  :P

LOL thats less then 1% of the game..cheery picking hyperbole. The melee, stealth, survival (especially on hard and higher) gameplay is fantastic along with amazing story and characters. It deserves it's praise. every game can be downplayed with terrible cherry picked arguments like yours.

Why exactly did so many expect a  lower score? It's still The Last of Us and not another game, Would be pretty weird if reviewers would say one year later "game isn't that great" after they gave it a 10 a year before.

I mean, it's not as if the new gen brought anything new to us except for better graphics so that a game which was great last year is obviously still great and doesn't feel worse.

Tom Raider should have proven that already.

The only way that it would get a lower score is if we would really have new gameplay mechanics in 2014 which would let The Last of Us feel badly aged.

i dont understand the 10s... sure its a great game, but just a rerelease shouldnt get more than 9,5 because its not new.

LOL get defensive much?  I was making a joke lol, apparently it offended you.  Which btw, you are essential saying that those puzzles represent approx. 9 minutes of the actual game (1% of 15.2 hours which is the average amount of time it takes to complete the game).  I can tell you right now that for the average person it can take easily 5-10 minutes for each of the puzzles.  In other words, a lot more than 1% of the game.

But since you are so in love with this game, I'll give you something else to chew on....the game gets boring.  Yup, I just said it.  The first 15 minutes are great, the end of fall through winter is great and the ending is great.  The rest gets boring at times.....BOOM!
