Forums - Gaming - So I've got some info on the Destiny Expansions.

and to those claiming it isnt an mmo, you should probably actually play it, fireteams are limited to three people, but that does not mean there are only three people in your game world. it just means your private group is three players.
think of it as an mmo where creating a group ingame is limited to three members.

Or just go to tower and see a few hundred people at any given time.

Grounded? Difficulty mode for SP -> entirely optional. Would not be optional if it were for online content.

Can still play Destiny, without the expansions -> optional.

You know, just like Reaper of Souls for Diablo 3!!! Believe it or not, you can still play Diablo 3 without the expansion.

No, it's not optional when people around you carry other gear or have other abilities, or when you're friends are playing the new content and you can't because you didn't buy it. Online game content is inherently mandatory, there is no two ways about it.

And Reaper of souls came out 2 years later, cheaper than 1 year of Destiny expansions. That's an expansion done right (in terms of model, i haven't played it so i don't know if it's any good)

And it's most definitely not a MMO, calling it that won't change anything. It's an online FPS with laughable player counts. Planetside 2 is "MMO-like", this is not.

So you haven't even played Destiny yet, meanwhile you know for a fact that the way they plan to handle this is BS. Who cares if your friends have better gear. The damn game is co-op. Plus, it's also not a regular online FPS.

So it's not a normal online FPS, but it's also not a massively multiplayer online shooter. I guess since it only has a central hub (The Tower) and the game world only allows for like 6+ people at a time.

I guess Diablo isn't an MMO either since thousands of people aren't playing together either. You get like 8 people to a game room. So what do we consider Destiny? Shit, Diablo 2 didn't even have a hub for the game characters to chill, we had chat rooms.

But you know what. you're 100% right, about everything. I condede. You win sir. I give up.

Keep on hating and compaining while millions of us enjoy the hell out of yet, especially the fact that it is going to be so highly supported by the developers. We enjoy the bullshit they feed us.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

if your friends chose to buy it,  and you cant play it because you didnt buy it,  how is it any different from them buying a new game and you not being able to join in because you didnt buy it too?

dont confuse lack of choice with lack of ability to handle peer pressure.

Difference is enough time passed for me to squeeze everything out of the previous game so that it's irrelevant whether or not it becomes obsolete, because that'd happen regardless of a new game coming out or not.

But hey, it's your money ruining the industry, do whatever the hell you want with it. I'll be using those hundreds of dollars you're going to waste on proper games.

yes,  i'll continue to ruin the industry by paying for actual content,  thanks.

Enjoy paying for your abandonware.

I played a MMO called Diablo 2 for years. Yup, it's a MMO.

You had a chatroom, split up between servers where you also had other chatrooms within it. No big central hub like Destiny. When you went to actually play you would make or join a room. Up to 8 people could join in your game.

So Destiny doing something almost entirely similar = Not MMO , meanwhile Diablo 2 was. Yet Destiny, even if you join a game BY YOURSELF, still has other gamers participating in your gaming sesson. This was not the case with Diablo 2.

I would like to hear Raziel explain the big difference between the two, especially since I have played both.

plot twist,  they make the game world have hundreds of players at once then he changes his moaning to how he cant level up because theres too many people trying to kill the same monsters.

So If I want to experience Destiny the Best way...(since I'm still on last gen)
I have to buy a ps4 (400)+Destiny(60)+expansion pass(35)+ps plus(50)+have a friend who is willing to do the same thing (.The two of us must spend totally 1100 euros.
Perfect, now that I think about it...I don't have the money to play Destiny.
I'll buy a ps4 much later and play Uncharted 4,Bloodborne,The Witcher 3,Arkham Knight e.t.c.
Too bad cause I really liked the beta.

actually, if you look at the roster screen, no matter what you are doing there is a max of 16 players in a shared space.  If you are at the tower, you can only share the tower with 16 people for example.  Still, they blend it together in such a way that it feels like you are playing with a lot more people.  especially as people drop in an out.

Kudos for being smart.

People complaining about this have no idea how the industry works.

Again who knows some of these may be FREE I have no idea on that

It's everybody's prerogative to choise the game and the monetization style they prefer.
There are people here who prefer single player experiences with no DLCs. This is not a game for them.
There are people who enjoy playing annual franchises. This is not a game for them.
Then there are people who like coop and multiplayer experiences and enjoy having their game world expanded with new content. They will buy this game. And this is a thread for them.
