Too bad PS4 will likely not even come within spitting distance of PS2s LTD. 

Pretty sure the PS2 was profitable by June 2001 too. That's over a year from the Japan launch. 

Sadly the PS4 will probably not get to $129, considering ps3 is still $249.

 

PS4 and XB1 is still doing decent though, considering the prices. Nintendo though really needs to find a way to improve HW sales.

PS2 vs PS4 numbers are justified seeing as the PS4 hasn't had the same compelling software. In the same year the PS2 had these exclusives; Tekken Tag, Metal gear solid 2, GTA 3. Although Final Fantasy X didn't come to the west til 2002, I'm sure it sold many PS2s well ahead of its release. These mega franchises were all PS2 EXCLUSIVES!!!

Wii U vs Gamecube would probably be equal if Mario Kart+ Smash+ Zelda was out on the Wii U like it was for the gamecube within the same period.

The only unfixable thing here is 3DS vs GBA. Theres nothing Nintendo could have done to bridge that gap, the handheld market simply isn't that big anymore.

Very interesting. Looks like PS4 will loose a little ground during July and August, but it should come back quite a bit in September. The rest of the year is hard to say.

One thing is for sure though. Without a $100 price cut next year, PS4 and XBO will be dwarfed by PS2 and XB.

The Xbox One is outselling the Xbox1!
I'm surprised it's the only one outselling it's older counterpart. Though I fully expect 3DS to surpass GBA in LTD sales, mainly because its going to last longer than the GBA.

Also, GBA outselling PS2 in that time period. Makes me wonder if they still supported the thing for a while longer, would it have outsold the PS2?

Should be noted that MGS2, GTA3 were not out on the PS2 at the time of these figures. Just Tekken Tag.

Take aways ... this gen is generally being outsold by the PS2/GBA/GCN/XB era at the same respective points. The PS2 is notably higher than the PS4, the GCN is higher than the Wii U. XB1 and XBox are a bit of a wash. 

GBA is destroying the 3DS. 

I think we all know why this gen is doing so badly...  Because Ouya.
